With its ancient and historic cultural heritage, Azerbaijan is called “the Pearl of Caucasus”. From July 4 to 20, Cannes showcases cultural richness of this gifted country through many cultural events to succeed on the Croisette, at the Palais des Festivals and the Villa Domergue.
Events will include a concert of classical music, an open air dance show, an exhibition of traditional and contemporary art, a film, the exhibition of Mugham, a treasure ranking in the Intangible Heritage of UNESCO, and jazz.
Many prestigious artists will present their art to the Cannes audience, such as pianists Murad Adigezalzade, Isfar Sarabski and Shahin Novresli, violinist Elvin Ganiyev and Alikhan Samadov or the Symphony Orchestra of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan National Dance Company.
The discovery of a people and its artists, a country with a rich and bubbling culture is organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, created to celebrate the memory of Heydar Aliyev, the builder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, has for primary objective the protection of Azerbaijani cultural and spiritual values, and its promotion worldwide. Since its inception, the Foundation is chaired by Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
