Belcanto, the Luciano Pavarotti Heritage, a show combining opera, ballet and song will honor in May the italian Bel Canto at the Théâtre des Variétés in Paris.

Following the success in Spoleto, Bologna and New York, BelCanto, the Luciano Pavarotti Heritage arrives in Paris at the Théâtre des Variétés from May 2 to 17, 2015. The concert is uphold by talented opera singers selected by the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation.

Bel Canto throughout history

The BelCanto concert features unique and original performances of opera arias, traditional Neapolitan songs and international contemporary compositions arranged with the aesthetics and style of the Italian Belcanto.
BelCanto, the Luciano Pavarotti Heritage tells the story of this vocal style created in Italy that subsequently crossed the centuries and traveled around the world to finally arrive in America, influencing musical theater and many current artists.

Major opera arias

The show, produced by ARSlab combines unique and original performance of great opera arias by Puccini, Verdi, Bizet, Mozart, Rossini, Lehar and Lloyd Weber.
Some traditional Neapolitan songs and contemporary compositions are performed according to aesthetic and stylistic canons of Italian Belcanto.
The fairy ballets that pepper the show will also delight the spectators.

Six theme scenes

The show features six different thematic panels to recall the milestones that have marked the history of the Italian Bel Canto: The Origins – The Opera Buffa – Giuseppe Verdi – Giacomo Puccini – The Neapolitan Song – The Bel Canto across the world.

The Luciano Pavarotti Foundation

The Luciano Pavarotti Foundation perpetuates the memory of the Maestro. It was created in 2007 by Nicoletta Mantovani, the tenor’s wife who still values the memory of Luciano Pavarotti whose genius inspired so many young artists. This perpetuates the fairy tale of one of the greatest forms of art in history.
The BelCanto characters selected in collaboration with Luciano Pavarotti Foundation are 12 young singers: 4 sopranos, 2 mezzo sopranos, 4 tenors,  2 baritones.

Franco Dragone, artistic director

The choreography of Belcanto, the Luciano Pavarotti Heritage is signed by Vittorio Biagi, former star of Maurice Béjart. The staging, designed by Claude Tissier, creative director of Cirque du Soleil since more than a decade, will be reviewed by Franco Dragone.
The successful stage director gained fame by signing the first ten Cirque du Soleil shows. He also subjugated 85 million viewers with “The House of Dancing Water” in Macao and “A NewDay” for Celine Dion, a show subtly merging singing, theater, dance and technical innovation.
Many a time honored, Franco Dragone has won three Obie Awards and one Los Angeles Critics’ Award.
