Cannes Faculté des Métiers a Way Towards Excellence

On January 31 at the Cannes Ecole Hôtelière and Faculté des Métiers (Faculty of Trades), the 2012 Promotion graduation ceremony was held, in the presence of Deputy Mayor Bernard Brochand, Evelyne Brun, Deputy Mayor, delegate to Education and School Life and its director, Serge Bottin.

The school, public institution managed by the city of Cannes in partnership with the Regional Council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, offers on its 5,000 m2 premises, more than 20 training to 1,000 apprentices in the fields of hostellery and catering, tourism and development, sales and services, achieving a winning bet of 80% success in examination. All deserving apprentices rewarded with a diploma have shown throughout the duration of their training a huge personal investment, a lot of motivation and work for a successful entry into adult life and work. All displayed in front of their families, their teachers, their employers and learning teachers their pride in being rewarded.

During his speech the deputy-mayor recalled that before accessing the Cannes Town Hall, he used to be a multinationale CEO and had been a professional footballer. He said he also tried various odd jobs when he was their age such as butcher, baker, and others of which he kept excellent memories, forging its future human life in the world of hard work. He urged the youg graduates to keep a winning attitude and try again and again if they had a failure.

Serge Botin, the director of Cannes Faculté des Métiers adressed companies, recalling that the heart of his work was the training and to achieve it, one had to accept extra teaching assignments in a sometimes malfunctioning society and resume the fundamentals of education, meet social and moral distress and reboost cohorts of kids previously in school failure, manage illiteracy, participate to learning the French language. He also has to manage the insertion of disabled apprentices, adapt himself to the returns of many of graduates willing to fit into the world of work. He thanked the audience for their attention and congratulated the graduates.
