Cannes Regates Royales-Trophee Panerai 2014

The 36th edition of the Regates Royales-Trophee Panerai will feature some of the still sailing finest and oldest traditional monohulls to race in the somptuous bay of Cannes.

From next September 21 to 28, hundreds of majestic sailboats, from key classics sailboats to different types of riggings, including 12 and 8 MJI and the Dragon, will square off in the gorgeous turquoise waters of the bay of Cannes.

A double anniversary

Included in the calendar of the Panerai Classic Yacht Challenge circuit, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, the Regates Royales – Trophée Panerai is the last race of the season.
A nice birthday also for the Regatta Society of Cannes which has been co-organizing the Régates Royales for 10 years with increasing success each year.

Prestigious guests

With 30 new monohulls on the fifty already enlisted, the Regates Royales of Cannes continue to to arouse the passion of old riggings owners. Among the new entrants, the presence of Sif will thrill the audience. Launched in 1894, this 16-meter gaff schooner celebrates 120 years this year.
Some of the most beautiful boats in the world such as Dorade, Elena of London, Oriole, Mariquita, Shamrock V and many more, will fight for victory and the Officine Panerai watches and numerous awards and prizes.
This year, the 12 and 8 MJI competition will be attended by Wings, skippered by naval architect Guy Ribadeau Dumas. Faced with this monohull launched in 1937, five other 12MJI will be in Cannes. In the category of 8 MJI, France and Saskia complete the entry list for this metrics class.
Always popular with many European teams, the Regates Royales attracts the best dragonists of the moment for 4 days of intense and contested races. From Ireland, England, Germany, France and Russia, all converge to Cannes to compete for the win.

Mauritius honored

This year again, Mauritius will be honored on the Friday, specifically dedicated to this island in the Indian Ocean. Thursday will be dedicated to Eutelsat, partner of the event.

The village of conviviality

On the Quai Laubeuf, the village of Cannes Regates Royales will celebrate the return of regattas with numerous activities and concerts. Cannes will present a photo exhibition by Jerome Kelagopian along the rue d’Antibes and many traders in the city centre also will the wear colors of Regates Royales so that the regattas live both at sea and ashore.
