Cannes summer season 2016 presented  by David Lisnard, demonstrates the importance for the city to offer a quality cultural programming. Nearly one hundred events are organized jointly by the City Hall and the Palais des Festivals, combining modernity and respect for traditions, for all tastes and ages, for Cannes people and visitors.

“You will be free this summer to choose what suits you!”  Mayor of Cannes David Lisnard said in his address on the beach of the Hotel Majestic Barrière Cannes, where the rich summer events program was unveiled.
Continuing on a poetic momentum, the Mayor added: “Change the colors of the time, change the colors of the world, as the poet used to sing; the summer in Cannes means seeing daily life in an other way because, if our city intensely lives the rhythm of each season, it is even more beautiful, bright and lively. When dressed in summer lights, it is adorned in its nicest finery!”

Identity through iconic events

The city of Cannes boasts many finery and assets, with its ever richer and more festive cultural offer. It certainly seduces all holiday makers in the region and the thousands of tourists who each summer invade the prestigious hotels and the beaches of fine sand.
For this package to be complete, the world capital of the 7th Art will propose them a high quality cultural and musical offering which they can enjoy at leisure throughout their stays Cannes.

A city proud of its roots

This summer, visitors can also discover the Ephemeral Museum of Cinema. From July 13 to August 25, the Usine du Film Amateur (Amateur Film Factory), designed by Michel Gondry, will allow moviegoers to make a movie in 3 hours in movie sets built in the Palais des Festivals.
On July 26 and August 2, two evening events will be organized in the Ephemeral Museum with an outdoor screening of a film that marked the history of the Festival de Cannes.
The Summer season will provide an opportunity for visitors to discover the traditions and heritage of a city open to the world and others, but also proud of its roots. The battles of Provençal jousting brighten with happiness local festivals like the Feast of Saint Cassien or Saint Sauveur and will strengthen the identity of a city more than ever facing its history.

To extend one’s evenings…

In the sweetness of the night, the public will prolong his evenings with Nocturnes Boccassiennes walks. At the heart of the historic city, visitors will discover the talents of the Suquet des Artistes and the creative animation of Suquet des Arts and a little farther down the narrow cobbled streets, the night market on Quai Saint-Pierre will offer them the opportunity to fill up on souvenirs gifts to immortalize their vacation on the French Riviera.
