Exporose, a Roaring Twenties Perfume in Grasse

Exporose in Grasse will bring together all lovers of roses from May 5 to 8, 2016 for a 46th edition on the theme of the Roaring Twenties.

Exporose is the largest European exhibition of cut roses which has been taking place for over 4 decades in Grasse. This flagship event celebrates the floral emblem of the global Perfume Capital every year in May. The French Riviera city becomes a huge garden for thousands of roses. From May 5 to 8, 2016, the historic center Grasse and various exhibition venues will live to the rhythm of the rose in an atmosphere of Roaring Twenties.
Jérôme Viaud, Mayor of Grasse, Vice President of the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Council, President of the Agglomeration Community of Pays de Grasse,  has presented Exporose on April 29 in the presence of Anaïs Leprêtre, the new Miss Grasse 2016 and her dauphines.

Refinement and elegance around the rose

Exporose 2016 will kick off the Grassoise summer season and will be themed La Belle Epoque or the end of an aristocratic perfumery. The city, an open air theater, will stage the frenetic, boisterous, elegant and cheerful atmosphere of the finest hours of Charleston. Shopkeepers, associations of photographers and painters will play the game in welcoming the visitors in period costumes.
A classic cars parade, street performances, a fashion show De Coco Chanel à Denis Durand by the house Denis Durand Couture will celebrate the elegance and refinement of the 30s and complete this pretty picture dedicated to the Roaring Twenties. Exporose is also an opportunity for visitors to delve into the history of the rose and that of Grasse, closely intertwined for centuries.

Luxury roses creators

The specialists, lovers of the queen of flowers, will come from the whole region to pay it a fragrant homage and creators and enthusiasts of roses will beautifully stage their best productions for an always charmed and amazed audience.
The major international designers will also be present on Exporose. Among them, the houses Kordes (Germany), Meilland International (creator of varieties of cut-flower roses and gardens rose since 1860 and last “rose breeder” of the PACA Region), Rosen Tantau (Netherlands), will present to the public their finest specimens.

Olfactory exploration of scents

On the Cours Honoré Creps, nurserymen in the region will host an open air rose garden with the blue of the Mediterranean as a backdrop. This heavenly scented place will delight gardeners and strollers. In the city, the streets will be delicately scented, leading the visitor into an olfactory exploration of scents to find their favorite rose scent.
Grasse, which is also the place of cultivation of the delicate rose Centifolia, used by the most prestigious perfumers, will present many varieties of roses to the public: nearly 8,500 roses and 13,000 rose bushes will be offered for sale. 25,000 cut roses will enhance fountains, gardens, squares and museums of the historic center of Grasse.

Many festive events

During Exporose, many activities will be offered by the city and the associations of Grasse olfactory tour, rose-scented relaxation area, musical walks in the streets of the historic heart, floral bouquets contests, culinary workshops, guided visit of the International Museum of Perfumery, music impromptu, entertainment shows, fashion shows and surprise races.
The gourmet market will offer savory and sweet gourmet products such as candied roses and crystallized flowers, cosmetics made from flowers, art crafts, culinary workshops.
The Association D’une Rive à l’Autre will host Place aux Herbes a temporary shop on the theme of the rose. At the Villa Fragonard, an international exhibition will bring together more than 50,000 roses exhibited in bouquets of 60 to 300 flowers. Horticultural organizations, creators and distributors will participate in this rose festival.

Exporose, an event smelling the South and Provence, is organized in partnership with the Chambre Syndicale des Fleuristes and the Faculty of Trade of the City of Cannes.
