Grasse Summer With Thousand Fragrances

grasse ete aux mille parfumsGrasse offers a trip to the taste of the Essential, the taste of a summer with a thousand scents, through a summer season full of lovely invention.

Jérôme Viaud, Mayor of Grasse, presented the Perfume Capital summer entertainment, a summer season that will be full of discoveries with the weekend of Perfume, the Fête de la Musique, the Spanish and Medieval Feast, the fireworks, the Jasmine Festival, the Estivales evenings by the County Council, the Triathlon Fitdays MGEN, the horse show Parfum de Galop and many other events.

The summer exhibitions

For lovers of culture, the Museum neighborhood launches its temporary exhibitions.
From June 6 to September 30, the Musée International de la Parfumerie presents “Corps paré, corps transformé” (adorned body, transformed body) while in its gardens, the exhibition of the photographer René Bruno is continuing until September 30.
The Museum of Art and History of Provence offers “Redingote et Caraco” from June 13 to September 30; the Provencal Museum of Costume and Jewellery offers “Collection d’une Arlésienne” until October 30 and the Museum Jean-Honoré Fragonard “Intérieurs d’ailleurs” and “Scènes d’Intérieur” until October 11.

Moments of farniente

In the gardens, the fragrant naps and nights always attract more public for farniente moments. Everywhere the scent diffusers perfume and freshen the atmosphere for a unique olfactory signature in the Land of Scents inthe exceptional sites of Grasse: Place du 24 Août and the Gardens of the Museum of Art and History of Provence (MAHP).
Every Thursday, as a preview to the scented night, some tour guides from Heritage Services offer a guided tour of the city of Grasse. Departure from the Place du 24 août at 15h00. 33 (0)4 97 05 58 70.

The Provençal markets

On the Cours, the markets are in full swing with the Wednesday Matinales and nights. Squares and streets come alive with the appointments to the workshop of painters, sculptors, visual artists and photographers.
During their stay in Grasse, visitors will follow the time walkers for a walk-show to discover the history of the city, or will settle in lounge chairs to enjoy the artistic impromptu planned every Thursday night in the gardens the MAHP.

Fête du Jasmin

From Friday 31 July to Sunday, August 2, the traditional Fête du Jasmin (Jasmin Festival) will will set the rhythm with his cheerful energy and the highlight of the event, the parade of perfumed floats.

Friday, July 31

16h00: contest of flowered bicycles in the Place aux Herbes
22h00: fireworks followed a Ball on the Cours Honoré Cresp.

Saturday August 1st

From 14:00 to 17:00: Street Arts in the city center of Grasse
21h00: parade of floats, accompanied by brass bands, flag throwers, stilt walkers, musicians, dancers.

Sunday, August 2

10h00 : Mass Princess Pauline with the Baissa Luserno
15h00 : contest of “square boules” on the Place aux Aires
From15h00 to 18h00 : Workshops and activities for young and old on the Cours Honoré Cresp

New for 2015: the Perfumed weekend

The Tales reading corner: The service of Libraries invites children from 2 to 5 years to fragrant naps while listening to stories and nursery rhymes. Thursday, July 9: Loup y es-tu, Thursday, July 16: Les p’tites bêtes du jardin and Tuesday, July 28: Bouquet of tales and nursery rhymes.

A scented weekend: The Perfumed weekend will include lectures and workshops on the fragrance and perfumer trade, sale or exchange of bottles, guided tours in olfactory workshops and finally a concert of flavored jazz.
