A morning of gastronomic delights
On a beautiful June morning, the tables had been set on the terrace flooded by the sun and greenery. The buffets were full or refined dishes and products of excellence carefully prepared by the chef Andrea Sangiuliano and his team to make us enjoy unforgetable moments of delicious gastronomy. Fine vegetables and seasonal fruits with vivid colors and southern flavors such as tomatoes, peppers, artichokes, cherries, melons, apricots, and many other again, enlivened the buffets. The Rosé de Provence, light and fruity with salmon-pink highlights, helped to enjoy this beautiful sunny and tasty getaway, in the company of the most charming and talented gourmet guide designers: Jean-Pierre Hubert.
A reference guide
The Guide Hubert, created in 1979 by the Toulousain Jean-Pierre Hubert, was the first guide being made on on glossy paper and full color. It contains a selection of 1,500 restaurants, scattered across the South of France. The guide was able to sustain its existence thanks to Jean-Pierre Hubert’s tenacity to develop, year after year and in an artisanal way, a network of correspondents supervised by regional managers. Through hard work, tenacity, and his sense of values and respect for local products, he made his guide a reference in the art of living and eating well. His selection values the excellence of the restoration, whether bistro or gourmet restaurant. A guide that is both authentic, generous and simple. The Guide Hubert, which is now a benchmark for all Epicureans, is designed in the image of its creator: simple, authentic and generous.
Small or large, bistro or gastronomic restaurants
The guide has the particularity of covering 42 departments of the southern half of France, from Ain to the Alpes-Maritimes, through Corrèze, Cantal, Dordogne, Gers or Bouches du Rhône. All restaurants are classified with symbols (plate or pot) on a scale of 1 to maximum 4 symbols. The “plate” symbolizes a classic restaurant, with excellent service, while the “pot” rewards restaurants that showcase a more simple and good food. A crown distinguishes the prestigious gastronomic institutions like the restaurant Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris (former Louis XV) in Monaco or L’Oasis in La Napoule. Another feature of the Guide Hubert: it offers a wine guide of the South, made by the famous œnologist Pierre Casamayor.
The Editions Hubert
Building on the success of the Guide Hubert, the editions Hubert, managed by Jean-Pierre Hubert, edit a large format beautiful glossy magazine that references the hotels and exceptional homes. Established in 1992, Séjours et Loisirs, with its elegance and its sumptuous pictures, is an invitation to travel and “farniente”.
The Hubert Guide, a tribute to the “bonne cuisine de chez nous” to be devoured without moderation in all simplicity.
