Jeux de la Francophonie Art Exhibition

Since September 7, 2013, the Palais Acropolis de Nice houses a plastic art exhibition of recent works by international artists created especially for the 7th Jeux de la Francophonie (Francophonie Games) in Nice.

A competition organized for the Jeux de la Francophonie brought together visual artists, particularly in the disciplines of photography, digital creation, ecological design, sculpture and painting, sports and culture. 31 artists were selected through a competition organized in two parts in the 55 member countries of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (O.I.F.)
The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Abdou Diouf, Secretary General of the Jeux de la Francophonie in the presence of Ms. Yamina Benguigui, Minister for Francophonie, Ms. Valerie Fourneyron, Minister of Sports and Culture, Deputy Mayor of Nice Estrosi, Rector Claire Provost Lovisi, and Mr. Philippe Jourdan, academic director of the Alpes- Maritimes. The personalities met with the francophone artists and 200 pupils present that day and exchanged ideas about promoting art in the Francophonie.
On the occasion of the 7th Jeux de la Francophonie, pupils from 55 classes in Nice and its surroundings have made during the 2012/2013 school year  55 1smq paintings evoking the 55 francophone countries. “Little Artists in the School of Francophonie ” is a flagship operation of the Academy of Nice in the Games of Francophonie. 1,600 students from kindergarten to CM2 created 55 panels, each depicting one of the 55 countries participating in the Games.
These1,630 little artists ” at the school of Francophonie” are pupils from schools in Nice (René Cassin, Institute of Sensory Education Clement Ader, Rothschild, Stanislas… ) as well as Falicon, Tourette-Levens, Beaulieu-sur-Mer… Teachers and principals of participating schools were very actively involved in this great project with their classes in connection with Mr.Richard Roux, academic advisor in the visual arts, the management of departmental services of National Education (DSDEN) in the Maritime Alps and Mrs. Lilia Parisot, Director of Clemi (Liaison Centre of Education and News Media).
