The third national economy

The Lille Metropolis currently represents the third largest economy behind Greater Paris and Greater Lyon (GDP: € 48 billion). The sixth largest city in France is also the second largest city in terms of head offices (80 headquarters of companies with more than 500 employees, 15 headquarters of international groups, 350 companies with more than 200 employees). The metropolis is the second largest regional office market and the second largest university center in France with 100,000 students.
Initiated by Lille’s independent developer Vicity, Lillenium is a € 140 million operation whose opening is scheduled for autumn 2019. This future giant shopping center will be one of the major players in the region in terms of jobs and a great accelerator of renewal for the southern districts of Lille.
