On the weekend of October 18 and 19, 2014, the City of Cannes organizes at the Castre Museum a weekend “Musées en Folie” on the theme of tales in shadows.

As part of the “P’tits Cannes à You” festival for children, to be held from October 15 to November 5, 2014, the Musée de la Castre in Cannes offers two days of free visit and cultural activities specifically organized for children, on the theme of tales in shadows.

Saturday octobre 18, 2014

10:30 – Family visit and workshop for children from 3 to 6, accompanied by adult on the theme of stories, masks and puppets.
Family visit to the collection of masks from around the world: from the Himalayas to Bali, departure on a journey through the extraordinary diversity of the masks from the world.
Workshop game of shadows and silhouettes (by reservation).

15:00 – Screening of the silhouettes animation movie “The Adventures of Prince Achmed” by Lotte Reiniger in Sainte-Anne chapel at La Castre Museum (from 5 years). In a fairy-tale atmosphere, the story of an Arab prince carried away by a winged horse to the distant land of the spirits of Wak Wak, where he will meet the beautiful Pari-Banu. A great discovery of one of the first feature animation film in the history of cinema in restored version.

15:00 – Musical chinese shadows show: The magical child and the dragon king
With the Théâtre du Petit Miroir in the Sainte-Anne chapel of La Castre Museum (from 5 years).
This show full of twists and turns about the adventures of the child Lo Zha with magical powers. One of the most beautiful stories of Chinese mythology, full of adventure, will allow the public to learn about the sublime art of chinese shadows.
The show will be followed by a meeting with the puppeteer Jean-Luc Penso and a snack will be offered to children in the museum courtyard.
