Nice Carnival King of Gourmands

The 130th edition of the Nice Carnival invites all the gastronomes at the table of Carnival, King of Gastronomy, who will rule over Gourmands in Nice from February 14 to March 4, 2014, with Germany as country guest of honor.

Carnival “Roi de la Gastronomie” will offer the label the Nissarde cuisine. His ingredients of celebration, convivialté, cooking with flowers, flavors and colors of Provence peppered with those around the world will unite for the greater pleasure of hundreds of thousands of spectators. Germany is the guest of honor as this year marks the 60th anniversary of twinning with the city of Nuremberg.
How better understand and meet a nation than by inviting oneself to its table and enjoy its endless vistas of creative imagination in popular festival?
On the Place Massena, King’s personal kitchen, some twenty burlesque floats will parade on the theme of “La Bonne Chère” (good food), decorated in finery with misses in tasting costume: “Sweet and salty at the table of King Carnival”, “Molecular Kitchen”, ” Angela Merkel’s Sauerkraut”, “Fast food ” or “Maïté, Queen of the Terroir.”
Multicolored floats parades will show King of Gastronomy’s life in the modern era and invite you to discover the label of Nissarde cuisine. Niçoise cuisine reflects the art and joy of life, the respect for local products and regional peculiarity of its delicious gastronomic specialties, envied worldwide. They will be accompanied with traditional animation elements: street arts or international bands. In the nightly version, the lighting and sound gives corsi a magical aspect.

Flower parades

In addition to Nice Carnival Corsi, day or night, Carnival offers Flowers Parades, a poetic and charm show. With the back to La Coulée Verte (green corridor) and Albert 1er Gardens, and facing the blue waters of the Mediterranean dominated by the dome of the famous Negresco, the elegant flower parades enhance the floral heritage of the region.
The theme is declined by unique costumes creation, worn by models who send armfuls of flowers to the public. More poetic and friendly, the other side of Carnival remains faithful to the spirit of this great popular festival by multiple floats parading through the historic sites of Nice.

Nice Carnival sports events

In the mythical setting of the Baie des Anges, the Rock’n Roll 10 miles race, will take place on February 16, 2014 at 9:15 am, and will combine, in a friendly atmosphere, racing, music and costume, and mega zumba. A great race followed by a giant zumba on the Promenade des Anglais from 12:00. The second weekend will host the famous “Carnival Bath”, where each participant will see their entry turned into a donation to the Foundation Lenval.

In parallel to the festivities, Nice Carnival offers a wonderful opportunity to discover Nice in winter: its mild climate, the brightness of the sky and the French Riviera lifestyle. Natural sites, cultural and artistic life, haut lieu of gastronomy, reveal a rich palette of emotions.
