Cannes Port en Fete

Pirates Board Cannes Old Port En Fête

The party was in full swing on June 29, 2013 at the old Port of Cannes for the first edition of Port en Fête. This free event, organized by the CCI Côte d’Azur in collaboration of the Port of Cannes entitled “Let All Pirates On Board” was a huge popular success, bringing together between Pantiero and quai Saint Pierre more than 15,000 people to celebrate the beginning of summer.

Throughout this festive evening on the Quai Saint Pierre, the Fiesta Cubana marched to the sound of salsa. As for children, they were able to take a blast in playing in the inflatables structures at the effigy of Pirates of the Carribean or having fun at educational workshops where wooden games, pirates workshops and drawings were available for them. The association Méditerranée 2000, with educational purposes, was also present to raise awareness, educate and empower children with explanatory posters and photos on biodiversity, climate, oceans, sustainable development in order to encourage them to become caring and eco-responsible citizens.
A nautical entertainment was installed in the terrace Pantiero basin as well as workshops related to marine navigation where children could learn, among others, to make a sailor knot. Further, a pirate camp was established where young buccaneers were given full opportunity to dress up as a Pirate of the Caribbean, with full provision of clothing and accessories. In other stands, chests, flags, guns and weapons were exposed to complement the thematic table of the evening.
A restoration point allowed the public to cool off or just relax while listening to the unforgettable masterpieces from the 80s reinterpreted by the group soul and funky, Serpico.
By late evening, a completely new and amazing video mapping show combining sound, images and light, signed Damien Fontaine, was projected onto the Suquet hill. It was followed by a large Top 80 concert hosted by Marc Toesca with Imagination, Boney M Story, and especially the amazing Jimmy Somerville.
An unforgettable Port en Fête that the CCI Côte d’Azur is keen to renew next year.
