The Vinalies 2014 by Union of Oenologist of France offered to taste the winning wines from the Rhône Valley-Provence-Corsica region on July 7 in Aix en Provence.

The Vignerons of Vallée du Rhône-Provence-Corsica region received 161 medals over 600 wines submitted to the Vinalies 2014 contest, including 28 Grands Prix d’Excellence and 73 Prix d’Excellence.  On the second edition of Vinalies evening of tasting, many wine professionals gathered in Aix en Provence to taste the winning wines of the region, representing the region at the national Vinalies competition.

Discoveries and tastings

After the success of the first edition of Vinalies 2013, which brought together nearly a hundred wine professionals who came to Marseille to discover the winners of the Rhône Valley-Provence-Corsica region, the second edition of Vinalies in Aix en Provence awarded many prizes to the best wines of the South.

Making a great wine

The success of a wine of excellence, such as a Vinalies winner, is the result of a union between the oenologist and theproducer who have forged close ties over the years. High aromatic expression and perfect balance of a wine indeed depends on the quality of the relationship between the duo winegrower-oenologist.

Great success for our regional winegrowers

The National Vinalies, a competition organized by the Union of Oenologist of France, awards every year the best wines from all French regions. Wines are selected by a jury composed entirely of oenologists who present each winning bottle with the Grand Prix d’Excellence, the Prix d’Excellence and the Prix des Vinalies. Winning winemakers were presented their awards by Eve Iribarne, President of Union of Oenologist of Vallée du Rhône-Provence-Corsica region.

The Vinalies contest

For over 30 years, the Contest is a competition Vinalies between 3,000 samples of wines from all the wine regions of France, and more than 600 from the Rhône Valley-Provence-Corsica region.  The winning wines are selected in the great tradition of Vinalies. The wines entering in the contest are first pre selected by the regional networks, and are then sent to the national competition, which takes place each year at the Congress of Oenologist of France.
The jury, entirely composed of oenologists, awards the Grand Prix d’Excellence, the Prix d’Excellence and Prix des Vinalies to the best wines of France.

A strong wine identity

The Vinalies are the symbol of a strong identity and quality of wines for winning winemakers. They also show a strong relationship between wine professionals. The winemaker and oenologist form a duo throughout the wine production, a link that continues and strengthens during the competition. Indeed, the winemaker is sponsored by an oenologist when entering the Vinalies contest.
