Malaysian Supernova Showcase at midem 2013

For the first time, the Malaysian Pavillion, showcasing over 20 companies, hosted at Midem 2013 a very high profile music event called Malaysian Supernova featuring eight very talented artists including the rock group Hujan and Bunkface, DJs Goldfish & Blink, pop song makers Amanda Imani and Jaclyn Victor, R&B act Nadhira, electro pop diva Ze! and reggae ambassador Sasi The Don.

midem presented this key music event on 27 January at Salon des Ambassadeurs in Palais des Festivals. On this Malaysian Supernova program, a variety of musical styles dynamically expressing with short sets: from electro through the Malaysian “Lady Gaga”, variety to reggae and rock… The concert began with DJ duo Goldfish & Blink, an electro set which ended with ZE! as guest star. ZE!, Malaysian star compared to Lady Gaga, then performed molded into a colorful striped body, accompanied by a DJ whose face was hidden under a zebra head. Amanda Imani‘s aspiration is to positively impact humanity through music, to perform and write the truth. She promotes her music through collaborations with partners for good causes such as education and knowledge, well being and health… Known as the Asia Reggae Ambassador, award winning artist Sasi The Don is to release his 5th album in 2013. He has been performing and recording album as a main stream artiste since the year 2000. Jaclyn Victor is a pop star in her country, both an actress and voice singer, a world-class singer who raised the enthusiasm of her many fans who cheered her. Formed in 2006, the Hujan rock alternative pop band is known locally as one of the first band to make full use of the internet and social media to promote themselves, boasting 475,000 fans on Facebook! After releasing “From Malaysia With Love” in 2010 (three-time number one in the radios charts), Nadhira released a second album in 2011 “12 shades”. Her single “Tear us apart” from “12 shades” was played on English Radio N1 Hitz FM before winning the VIMA 2012 Music Award for best pop song. Pop punk bad Bunkface has performed at major events in Malaysia, Singapore, Maldives, Australia and UK. The band has been given recognition to perform with Katy Perry, Tokyo Hotel and Wonder Girls in a world-class concert: MTV World Stage.
