30th Cannes International Jumping

Cannes Jumping : the thirty bests for the 30th anniversary

Cannes International Jumping has celebrated this year its 30th anniversary from June 9, 10 & 11, 2011, with the thirty best riders in the world, including Kevin Staut, the French, who at age 30, has been the world's No. 1 for eight months. Great sports moments of emotion on the occasion of the sixth edition of the Global Champions Tour, the world championship of Formula 1 version horses. Nine Grands Prix around the world, the best riders in the world with their best horses fighting for the title of best rider of the outdoor season... and especially for one million euros that the bests will share at the end of the season.

One of the two french stages of the prestigious "Global Champions Tour", Cannes International jumping is one of the few in France to propose a plateau composed of the thirty best riders in the world with a "little something" more: the charm of the Croisette, the famous avenue being less than 200 meters away. The horses in competitions are the best in the world: Olympic champions, World Cup winners, Grand Prix great winners.

The Global Champions Tour, presented by Jaeger-LeCoultre is a prestigious circuit that travels the world from Doha until Abu Dhabi through the finest competitions in Europe. Each step is a Grand Prix with 285,000 € (92,000 € for the winner) leading to a general classification: the end of the circuit, the eighteen best riders will share a purse of 1,000,000 €. Only the top thirty world can claim to participate in these events and so far, five French riders, Kevin Staut (No. 1 worldwide), Simon Delestre No. 10), Penelope Leprévost, Roger-Yves Bost and Julien Epaillard are included. Thus is it assured that one can assist to the best of jumping in Cannes.

Among the greatest moments: the French Delestre, on Ciana Z, won the opening prize ‘EADS» and the Brazilian Alvaro de Miranda, riding the French horse Norson, has won the «Prix Leclercq Le Cannet».  The Generali Prize has been carried off by Venezuelan rider Pablo Barrios with G and C Quick Star 11 for his first appearance in Cannes. But the victory that thrilled the 4,000 spectators was Australian Edwina Alexander’s, on French horse Itot du Château, who took the Grand Prix de la Ville de Cannes  Groupe Massa, and so, the Cannes International Jumping off the bests riders: the Spanish, Sergio Alvarez Moya and Ludger Beerbaum from Germany. She so won the Cannes International Jumping. Edwina loves Cannes and Cannes feels exactly the same about her !
