A Village in the City Center

A village for pedestrians in the heart of Cannes

Steps away from the world-famous Palais des Festival hosting the Festival de Cannes, lined by prestigious Croisette on one side and trendy Rue d’Antibes on the other, a calm village dedicated to pedestrians is born. The district that includes the Notre Dame, Bivouac Napoleon, Des Belges and Buttura streets is historic: after disembarking on March 1, 1815 with 1,100 men in Golfe Juan, this is where Napoleon camped before taking off for his epic Hundred Days. Now, after many important works like the extension of the Majestic Hotel, the birth of a new five-star hotel, the Five, in a renovated building, the renovation of La Poste and of the Casino des Fleurs, the place is offered to tourists who can take advantage of many terraces and enjoy calm almost like on a village place. The decoration lends itself to this vision: orange-trees, pretty wrought-iron gates, wide paved sidewalks and no more cars parked on two sides of the streets. In the evening, an illumination of the northern facade of the Notre-Dame de Bon Voyage enchant on-lookers. On September 1st, Mr Bernard Brochand, Deputy-Mayor of Cannes, his First Deputy, Mr David Lisnard and many elected personalities have led the way to the visit of the district, preceded by a swing walking band.
