Cannes Cruisers’ Thrilling Visit

Exciting day of cruise visit in Cannes

The Aida Bella with 2,500 passengers on board and the Grand Princess with 2,600 passengers have been dock in Cannes. 5,000 cruisers, mainly English and German, were able to discover Cannes and the Cote d'Azur on the biggest attendance day of the year. Recognizing the importance of this clientele and the need for developing customer loyalty, Cannes shopkeepers mobilized themselves into a Tourism & Shopping operation called "The Thrilling Visit". With the support of the CCI Nice-Côte d'Azur, in its role of supporting traders and manager of the Port of Cannes, 80 shops in the Meynadier, Antibes, Hoche, Felix Faure, Maréchal-Joffre streets  and Forville market, displayed the colors of "Welcome To Cruise Passengers" by offering tastings and promotions. Cruisers were greeted on the red carpet upon their arrival in Port and given a kit of the day including special offers in shops and the schedule of events in the city. Customers represent an important issue for the future of the destination, since 90% of cruise passengers say they want to return on another holiday mode. This year, the Riviera has welcomed 688,000 passengers in five ports, including 200,000 in Cannes. The estimated expenditure per passenger per day is 80 euros, mainly in shopping, restaurants and transportation. This type of operation, renewed in Cannes for the third consecutive year aims to strengthen the synergy between two sectors of the economy, Tourism and Trade. Initiated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nice - Cote d'Azur and its partners, actors of trade and tourism, this initiative aims to make shopping a complementary assets and was set up again this year on the occasion of Nice big conferences or festivals such as the Festival de Cannes or in Golfe Juan. The highlight of the visit was a fashion show offered by the Galeries Lafayettes, followed by visual arts animations and a tasting of delicious «socca» and rosé at the sound of Jazz.
