Unusual looks at Cannes - Awards Ceremony of "Cannes En Scène 2011"


The winners of Cannes photo contest, organized for the first year, in partnership with tourism professionals in Cannes, on the theme "Unusual Cannes" were rewarded on December 16th at the Palais des Festivals of Cannes. The ceremony was attended by David Lisnard, President and Martine Giuliani, CEO.

Created and organized by the Sales and Marketing Department of the Cannes Palais des Festivals, as part of the communication campaign "Cannes is Yours" the on-line contest recorded throughout the summer a participation of 154 amateur photographers, tourists and locals, of all nationalities. The photos were uploaded on the Net via the dedicated website www.cannes-photo.fr.

In his address to the audience, Mr David Lisnard emphasized that Cannes was a place where all year long, through the shows and fairs it hosts, creators were promoting their products to the whole world. This photo contest was also a way for creators to express their emotions and share their creations with the outside world, mostly by using social media.

After deliberation the jury of artists and professionals of the communication (Rose Torrente-Mett, President of the Jury, founder of haute-couture house Torrente, Gilles Traverso, photographer, Janie Samet, fashion journalist, Patrick Moya, contemporary artist, Laurence Jenkell, sculptor), six participants were rewarded. Three other authors whose photos had been submitted to the votes of Internet users have have been awarded the "e-public price".

Prizes, stays endowments and activities in Cannes were generously provided by Cannes tourism partners: Azur Helicopter, Abbey of Lerins, Galeries Lafayette, Les Thermes Marins, M. Micallef, the Grand Hotel, the Gray d'Albion, the 3.14, the Five & Spa, the Radisson Blu 1835, the Best Western Mondial, the Best Western Cannes Riviera and Park & Suites. The photographs were presented in the preamble of the ceremony and showed a new way to promote the image of Cannes, by the eyes of the public in love with the city. Building on this success, "Cannes en Scène" should be a video contest during the summer of 2012.

L’Empreinte Verte (Green Print) rewarding the picture highlighting the value of nature in Cannes was awarded to Valerie Duffour (Antibes - France) for "Snowman in Cannes."

Maria Lobanova (Saint Petersburg - Russia) won the "Award of Creativity" with "The Beach".

The "Price of Emotion" goes to Richard Durando (The Adrets - France) for his vision of "Ramparts of Le Suquet".

The " Price of staging" was given to  "Lady with flowers at the Gate of Forville Market" Santiago Cornejo (Madrid - Spain).

The " Price of Aesthetics" was awarded to Isabelle Mekoff (Cannes - France) for its "Cannes by night."

1st E-public Prize "Golden reflections in the port of Cannes" by Paolo Villella (Naples - Italy)

2nd E-public Prize "In Cannes, you lose the head !!!!!!!!» Lena De Castro (St Bonnet de Mure, 69 - France)
