Cannes Season’s Greetings
Cannes says « No! » to the crisis
On Saturday January 7, in the Riviera Rotunda, Mr Bernard Brochand, Deputy-Mayor of Cannes, welcomed a very large crowd that came to listen to his for new year's greetings address. Mr Brochand wished in his own name, on behalf of the Town Council and all employees of the City of Cannes, «a beautiful, good, a full and happy year 2012. Let it keep you above all healthy. Let it give you energy, vitality and enthusiasm to live fully and to dare the adventure to your projects, to meet real friends, to share sincere feelings with people around you, and to know to reach a helping hand to those that loneliness, difficulties, unemployment, illness or mourning dove into a painful existence."
Referring to the predictions of "end of the world in 2012" predicted by some fanciful prophets, Mr Bernard Brochand replied that for him, "the end of the world, it is only when man ceases to be fully human, to be bearer of humanity.»
On the crisis, the mayor of Cannes, said: «Today, many of our compatriots find, in the heart of the crisis, the pleasure of simple things and the sense of shared generosity. The crisis, as painful as it is, does not only generate dramas. It also opens the hearts, minds, to a new life together. It reinforces the solidarity, and I salute all those people, active in associations, participating in the social bond in our town. All have chosen to say "no" to the crisis" by the acts. We must all say "no to the crisis" by the action. The crisis is not a fate that falls on us. It is the consequence of past sacrifices. The world, Europe, France is to rebuild and that's the works lying ahead in 2012. We are free, free to fully engage ourselves, free to watch things happen without us, and can then be against us. Financially, in terms of security, in terms of solidarity, in terms of prosperity, influence, attractiveness, in 2012 as in 2011, we will say "no to the crisis " by doing, by structuring projects in all districts. It must also be true in our personal lives, professional, everyday, we must move by project, to project ourselves into the future is the best way not to miss it.»
In conclusion, evoking on the AAA, widely talked about, Mr Brochand said: «In Cannes, we want to be rated by a new generation of agency, on real, deep and lasting values, authentic, human, intangible values. For 2012, I wish you, that this agency delivers you, delivers to us all, a triple "AAA": an A for "Autrement" (differently), this is our way of acting and living in Cannes, an A for "Action", therein lies the future, in perpetual motion; an A for "Audacity", because it's with it that anything is possible. I wish you a triple A, but better still a "AAA +". And this "plus", this extra soul in a way, that I want is "Amitié" (Friendship). For our actions, our way of being differently, our daring would not be oriented only towards ourselves but lead to sharing, to be carried towards others.»
