Fond du Broc Comedy Festival
Laughters in vines at Château Font du Broc
The prestigious vineyard Font du Broc, has initiated this year a Comedy Festival with the help of the Thalia Arts & Culture Association. For its fourth and last spectacle, on August 12, 2011, it has invited the humorist Arnaud Cosson to perform an hilarious show entitled: «Tout est bon dans le Cosson» (Everything is good in the Cosson). Between certainly pushed portraits and right tone replicas, Arnaud Cosson has found his style. His incisive writing turns out to be extremely effective, leaving the spotlight to frenzied situations that punctuate his spectacle. Multi facial expressions and elastic body add dynamic and colors to the interpretation of his characters. The soirée begun by an equestrian demonstration of dressage accompanied by a wine tasting.
On a ground where thirty years ago nothing was existing but an old "mas" and a fountain in a grotto (Font means fountain), owner Sylvain Massa has through the years build mansions, planted vines, invested in wine equipment production, dug a wine cellar and turned the place into a prestigious vineyard and horse breeding. Before Arnaud Cosson’s show pictures, we propose you a visit of the estate and its jewel, the wine cellar.
The wine cellar
At the entrance of the cellar, before the steps plunging 20 meters down under the "à la Française" gardens, a chapel welcomes visitors, to commemorate a miracle. The first wine cellar roof collapsed when under construction by the Companions of the Tour de France because of a default in the stones used for the building. The collapse happened at the very moment of the lunch pause, so that nobody was injured. The Companions of the Tour de France soon built it again, with all conditions of security and the cave now offers its rib vaults and carved stones to enchanted visitors. The wine cellar is the place where red wines are matured one year long in 600 liters barrels at a regular temperature of 16° C.
Let’s talk about wine
Château Font du Broc was previously renowned for its white then for its red wines and now, its rosé wines reach the reputation of white and red wines. If owner Sylvain Mass and Maître de Chai Gérald Rouby follow ancestral and natural ways to produce their wines, they keep being innovative and Font du Broc has just launched a new rosé wine: Le Frisson, a slightly sparkling and sugared wine.
The horse dressage event
A demonstration of horse dressage has preceded Arnaud Cosson’s show. The horses breed by Sylvain Massa are a crossing between Lusitanian horses and german horses, a race called «Lusitanian Sport» dedicated to dressage events. Horses bred at Font du Broc win numerous international competitions an Galopin de la Font, a horse born in Font du Broc, has won the World Championship and has participated to the last Olympics.
Arnaud Cosson’s show
Arnaud Cosson's show "Everything is good in the Cosson" revolves around the story of his "mad" teenage years and is peppered with portraits of laughable characters as a CRS (member of the riot police), or familiar, like a drunken reveler during New Year's Eve party or the baker sketch, which contains a caricature of a nowadays teenager. With a thread, a novice bank robber, shy and awkward, who invites himself in every sketch. His writing is incisive, accurate, and his sketches are played with great acting talent. Cosson perfectly controls the pace of his sketches: every sentence suggests a direction and a second later, he is waiting for us at the corner of his fertile and hilarious imagination and makes us laugh with a humor volte-face. This is the signature of the greatest.
