CRIF Annual Gala Diner in Nice
The Crif holds his gala dinner
The southeast section of the CRIF, the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France, held its annual gala dinner Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice. French Minister for European Affairs and Mayor of Antibes, Jean Léonetti and sculptor Sacha Sosno were present as guests of honor. In this presidential election year, it was a great opportunity for president Alain Belhassen to question politicians of the region on sensitive issues.
At the CRIF stand, different personalities succeeded one another like the National President of the CRIF, Richard Prasquier, the Israel General Consul in Marseille M. Barnea Hassid, the Mayor of Nice, President of Nice Côte d'Azur, M. Christian Estrosi, General Council President Eric Ciotti, Vice President of the PACA region Patrick Lallemand, artist Sosno and the guests of honor. They all said themselves happy of the release of the prisoner Gilad Chalit, whose picture had been hung on Nice town hall during his detention, and saluted the potential and the creative energies of a people who knew how to recover and rebuild after the Shoah. They spoke about the hope for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in the Middle East, the fight for Israel security, the combat again racism and antisemitism, the need for all European states to join forces against the nuclear threat from Iran. The Minister of European Affairs and Mayor of Antibes Jean Leonetti evoked the possibly of a military intervention.
