ESDC Half Century Celebrations

The book "50 Years of the Ecole Superieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower"

The countless students who attended the Centre International de Danse Rosella Hightower and the ESDC have all memories to share: teachers, annual performances, anecdotes about life at the Centre, the famous dancers, galas and of course unforgettable personality of Mrs. Rosella ...

This book brings together all of these memories by showing and also gives an opportunity to collect evidence on the early years of school with brief interviews.

Fiftieth Anniversary Dance Gala

On Monday 25 at Théâtre Debussy in the Palais des Festivals, 50 Years of Dance in Cannes have been celebrated in dancing. Paola Cantalupo wanted to organize a gala show that introduces past and present students to the school, illustrating the diversity of paths from the ESDC.

The centerpiece of this show, "Little Symphony", is the creation of an internationally renowned choreographer Davide Bombana by current students of the school on a piece of Frank Martin. "Little Symphony"  has been accompanied by the Cannes PACA Orchestra under the direction of Philippe Bender. The creation at the ESDC has also been celebrated by the revival of a ballet from the Monte Carlo Ballets director and choreographer, Jean Christophe Maillot, a former student of the school.

During the show, Mr David Lisnard, First Deputy to the Mayor of Cannes has awarded Mrs Arlette Castanier, co-founder of the ESDC with the City of Cannes Golden Medal.

To close the celebrations, a gala dinner was held at Palm Beach, bringing together elected officials and dignitaries. Youngsters were invited to the After at Palm Beach’s disco the Palm Club.
