New Year greetings and giant Twelfth Night cake at the Villa Massena
It is at Villa Massena that the deputy mayor and president of Nice Côte d'Azur, Christian Estrosi, has chosen for his New Year address to the local Italian population, in the presence of the General Consul of Italy in Nice, Luciano Barillaro, who also took the opportunity to send his best wishes to more than 10,000 Italians residing or having a second home in Nice, and of Mr Claude Batel, President of the Federation of bakers and pastry chefs of the Alpes Maritimes.
Christian Estrosi recalled the historical links between the Côte d'Azur and its Italian neighbors: "Nice is the first Italian city of France, as she was the first French city of Italy". He also highlighted the project of high-speed line between Genoa and Nice: "Users will be able to join Genoa in 1 h 10 time and Milan in 2 h 10 time by 2018". In the same context, users will be able to take free Genoese buses in Nice and vice versa. The greetings were completed by a giant "Galette des Rois" (Twelfth Night cake) offered by the Union of bakers and pastry chefs of the of the Alpes Maritimes.
