Laurent Korcia in Nuits du Suquet
Laurent Korcia in Nuits du Suquet
Laurent Korcia’s divine summer night
First prizewinner at the Paris Conservatoire, Laurent Korcia wins, at the age of 18, the Paganini Competition in Genoa, which earned him to play on the Maestro's Guarnerius violin, as well as a Grand Prize at the Jacques Thibaud Competition, the first Grand Prize at the International Zino Francescatti Competition and the Young Concert Artists Competition in London. Named Chevalier of Arts and Letters and Instrumental Soloist of the Year at the French Victoires de la Musique in 2002, he was awarded the George Enesco the SACEM prize and the Grand Prix of the Académie du Disque Charles Cros. Laurent Korcia is an outstanding artist. All his virtuoso playing features are a signature: his rich and deep vibrato, the way he links the music notes that flow from his fingers either when he caresses the violin or when he leans full of temperament bow-strokes on it, the powerful voice his art gives to the 1719 Zahn Stradivarius. A voice that wind up around the voices of the other violins accompanying him to enhance the music he performs. Laurent Korcia is one of the few violinists to give recitals of solo violin with programs ranging from Bach to contemporary composers and likes to brush borders between the classical and popular music like in his "Double Jeux" (Double Plays) record. His program at The Nuits Musicales du Suquet was Vivaldi's Four Seasons in the first part, accompanied by Aurélie Deschamps (alto), Anne-Sophie Le Rol (violin), Ryoko Yano, (violin) and Hermine Horiot (violoncello). For Laurent Korcia, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, is a film music before the time! In the second part, named "Cinema", he interpreted popular film musics like Charlie Chaplin's Smile (Modern Times) Carlos Gardel's Scent of a woman, Martin Brest or Lalo Shifrin's Mission Impossible, accompanied by Vincent Peirani, accordéon and again in quatuor : Béla Bartók's Duos Ennio Morricone's Cinema Paradiso or Stéphane Grappelli/Laurent Korcia's "Les Valseuses". Enchanted, the public wouldn't let Laurent Korcia leave the stage of this unforgettable night and called for many encores !
