Marseille's golden triangle
For the 11th consecutive year, Marseille was present at MAPIC. An opportunity for the city to take stock on the major projects in progress and reaffirm its position as an attractive metropolis. Through its various projects, Marseille has developed a golden triangle linking trade, tourism and culture.
On the Marseille port side, the first European port, you will soon find the Terrasses du Port, a set of 150 shops facing the sea also welcoming spaces for events. The new mall should benefit from the million cruise passengers passing through Marseille.
On the other hand, the Docks are facing it, mixing shops and local stores and of course an area entirely dedicated to culture and conviviality, offering bookstore, art or regional products. A scheme found in the rehabilitation of the arches of the “Major” that will be in 2013, one of the new poles of attraction on the seafront with its 6,000m ² surface oriented towards culture, crafts and upscale shops. The Docks was showcasing its assets in a pavilion on the Croisette at the foot of the Palais des Festival famous red carpet stairs.
Rue de la République, which continues to grow between businesses and personal services, connects this part of Marseille to the city center and especially the Centre Bourse. Works have already started and at the end of 2013, it will become a true business and culture combination, the history museum taking up its quarters among the shops. East and South are not left aside with the pole leaning against the Capelette blue pole adjacent to the sports arena Marseille Grand Est (POMGE) and offer not only shopping but also leisure spaces especially with a new multiplex. In the south, the Prado shopping center at the foot of the Velodrome Stadium, in turn fits into a comprehensive program with structuring and development of public space.
As European Capital of Culture 2013, the city is ready to host the event through various cultural structures created as the “Silo” with 2,000 seats, the Frac, the renovated Vieille Charité or the MUCEM.
Not less than 660 million euros have been invested, with 40% provided by the municipality, to make this development possible and encourage its cultural dynamics. An investment that pays off, not only on the field but also in professional circles as the City of Marseille was nominated for MAPIC Awards through this project to extend the heart of the city around this cultural, tourist and commercial triangle.

With this system, a trade that envisages settling in a location to a specific address can visualize the geographical and commercial context: street situation, presence of competitors around, types of shops present, their attractiveness and "health". Even available in detail for a given trade: estimated sales area, the state of the storefront, the range of prices, the state of the premices... Marseille is one of the few cities that have type of tool on its stand.
