Osteology Symposium Cannes 2011

Osteology takes a bite of Croisette

Osteology Foundation for regenerative dentistry.

From April 14 to 16, 3,000 dentists specialists in implantology have attended the International Osteology Symposium organized by the Osteology Foundation, to learn and practice the latest regenerative therapies. The Osteology Foundation stands for high-level research and high quality education in regenerative dentistry.

Implants are well-spread and convenient but need solid bone foundation to last.  The expectations of patients are growing both for perpetuation and aesthetics and practitioners have to improve skills and at the same time face cost reduction for a daily practice.

Therefore, key topics at the symposium were surgical techniques in soft and hard tissue regeneration, the use of biomaterials optimizing aesthetic outcomes and evidence based treatments concepts to identify risk factors to avoid complications.

Soft tissue management has become a major issue in regenerative dentistry over the pas years. Surgical techniques such as specific flap preparations, microsurgery or the use of soft tissue grafts give the best aesthetic results.

With 85 speakers and moderators, 24 workshops, 154 posters and an interactive clinical forum, the Osteology Symposium presented both the latest scientific results and practical guidelines and tips for daily practice. On many «hands-on» workshops, specialists practiced their skills on pork jaws under the aegis of renown university professors.

Hard work was rewarded by a Hollywood-like party at the Palm Beach in Cannes.
