Reinhoud’s fantastic universe
The Villa Domergue and its gardens play host to a retrospective of Belgian Reinhoud’s ceramic and brass work in partnership with the gallery Guy Pieters. This exhibition consists of 60 works of the artist ,most of which were produced in the workshop of Hans Spinner in Grasse (Alpes Maritimes). Having worked in the workshops with Pierre Marais Alechinsky and Christian Dotremont, this artist is an initiator of the CoBra movement. Reinhoud’s exhibition populates the Villa Domergue rooms and gardens with fantastic creatures, looking like aliens but containing enough of human features to express deep emotions that bring the visitors to face his own reflexion whilst watching the works of Art. Half-human, half-animal, the characters are always displaying a mocking humor even if sometimes they look dramatic or menacing. Each of them shows, in their expression and titles, the unusual and fantastic universe of their mischievous creator.
