The SEMEC keeps the Palais

Cannes doesn't change a winning team

The SEMEC (Mixed Economy Company of Cannes Events) has been renewed in the management of the Cannes Palais des Festivals.

The Cannes Congress Center, one of the busiest in Europe, attracts with its high-profile shows and congresses more than 800 millions euros of benefits for the local economy. It is thus the first economical resource in the city and generates indirectly 17 000 jobs in the Cannes area. The SEMEC is a joint venture including the city of Cannes and somme private enterprises linked to the tourism, like hotels or events organizers... In addition to its mission of managing the Palais, the SEMEC has to attract new congresses and to liven up the tourism activity with cultural events.

After striving to meet international quality standards, the Palais des Festivals and Congresses of Cannes has obtained at the end of 2009 a triple certification Quality (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001) and Safety/Security (OHSAS 18001) also called QSE, delivered by the Véritas Office. On the other hand, an ambitious program of renovation has begun : the Palais has already received a new white coating ; this program should continue until 2013.

The SEMEC quality and efficiency measures have certainly contributed to the choice of Cannes for hosting the next G 20 in November 2011.
