Sports Victories Ceremony in Nice
Côte d'Azur athletes honored at Sport Victories ceremony
On February 20, the evening of Sport Victories was held at the Palais Acropolis Nice. Mr Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of Nice Côte d'Azur, has presented a medal to nearly 300 athletes from the Côte d'Azur, representatives of some fifty disciplines. This medal recognizes their 2011 sporting performance in World, Europe or France Championships, and their national cup wins.
At the end of the evening sponsored by Fabien Barel, multiple champion of downhill mountain biking and presented by Christophe Josse, Canal +' voice of the sports, the winners of this edition climed upon the podium. Were elected by the public and a jury of fifteen local and national sports journalists, in the categories, Men, Women and Handisport:
Female Athlete category:
1 - Camille Muffat (VNO-Swimming) 2 - Nastasia Noens (Inter Club - Alpine skiing) 3 - Adeline May (Team Franck MAY - French boxing)
Male Athlete category:
1 - Yannick Agnel (NSB-Swimming) 2 - Jean Pierre Dick (Winner of the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Barcelona World Race and elected Sailor of the Year 2011) 3 - Loîc Pietri (Olympic Judo Nice).
Disabled Sports Category:
1 - Benjamin Landier (ANICES - Cycling / Triathlon) 2 - Sylvie Allena (ASCA 06 - Nordic skiing and Marathon) 3 - Robert Sellem (OGC Nice - Fencing)
On the occasion of the Sports Victories ceremony, Mr Estrosi presented the 22 sportsmen and sportswomen of the 7th Francophone Games support committee to be held in Nice from September 6 to 15, 2013.
The support committee chaired by Stephane Diagana, brings together the following sportsmen and sportswomen: Fabien Barel, Jean Galfione, Odile Diagana, Alain Boghossian, Sonia Fiuza, Nathalie Leroy, Yves Cordier, Nodjalem Myaro, Tilié Lawrence, Valerie Nicolas, Denis Saioni, Fabien Guillerme, Tony Vivarelli, Julien Arnold, Christopher Ferrier, David Casteu, Jean Noel Ferrari, Franck Mey, Charly Berard, Christophe Pinna and Guillaume Nery.
