Grand Paris Abundance of Projects

Mr Leroy, french Minister of Urban Affairs visits Grand Paris stands

For the first time at MIPIM, the stand of the Paris Grand brought together key actors from the Greater Paris: Society of Greater Paris, AFTRP, Sénart, Seine Aval, Plaine de France, Paris Saclay, Orly Rungis, Marne La Vallee, La Defense, Seine Arche.

On March 7, the Minister of Urban Affairs, Maurice Leroy came to support the gigantic project of Greater Paris, with 140 km of new metro lines that will link the cities of the Paris region where 70,000 dwellings per year will be built until 2030.

For the first time the Société du Grand Paris was presented at MIPIM. Created by the Act of 3 June 2010 on the Grand Paris, the Société du Grand Paris is a public institution with industrial and commercial state. Its primary mission is to develop and ensure the realization of the Grand Paris Express, red, blue and green lines. With 200 km of new lines and 72 stations, the Grand Paris Express is at the heart of a sustainable and overall development strategy of the Capital Region. It meets the need to reconcile daily life quality with improvement of international competitiveness, economic vitality and environmental requirements. Its attractiveness will have an active effect on initiatives and projects at local level. People's access to employment, cultural activities and leisure and services will be facilitated. The Society of Greater Paris said it was pleased with the progress of the project after years of discussion and the Minister of Urban Affairs has indicated that early drilling to the work of the metro system will take place before the end of April 2012. "The project is now irreversible," the Minister said.

Greater Paris is a project initiated by the President of the Republic in 2007, driven today by the State in conjunction with local authorities. It aims at the overall development of the entire metropolitan Paris area. Housing for all, economic, social and urban development, transports, cultural and sports facilities, architectural quality and sustainable development... prospects are numerous.

This project, led by elected representatives of the Ile-de-France, architects and territory planning partners, is a wonderful dynamic that mobilizes all sectors of society: the planners, transport operators, public and private investors, construction companies, architects.

At the heart of this ambition, there is the Grand Paris Express, a considerable investment to build an underground ring, quick and efficient, connected to airports and TGV stations and linking all the centers of development of the metropolis, for the benefit of employment and accessibility to all, including those excluded from mobility. The inhabitants of the Ile-de-France, young and old, workers, students, researchers and teachers, businessmen, traders... who participated in many debates on this key project to improve their daily lives, are waiting for its implementation.
