Jean Reno takes the stage for "The Great"
Jean Reno, Luc Besson's favorite actor and international star, was present at MIP TV 2012 where he presented at a press conference on April 1, a new cop series called " Le Grand (The Great), in which he plays Jo Le Grand, an elite, meticulous, relentless and suspicious police officer, who investigates mysterious murders in Paris.
The series, launched with great fanfare at MIPTV, is a real first for a private channel, composed of eight 42-minute episodes created by Rene Balcer, king of thriller (New York Judicial Police) to be realized this summer at a cost of two million euros per episode. The series, shot in english, is readily designed for the foreign public, based on Jean Reno's image beyond our borders. TF1 by using this "big mouth" of French cinema, but also international star, could conquer the whole TV world. After the release on the big screen of "Like a Chef" with Michael Young, one will find Marina Detcheva (Zodiac, the master of the zodiac), and Franck Ollivier (Zodiac, the master of the Zodiac, Paris Criminal Investigation), not to mention a Paris made into star for the occasion, as each episode will be shot on an unmissable location of the capital, (Pigalle, La Tour Effeil, Montmartre...) with views of the most beautiful buildings.
A challenge to overcome for Jean Reno, star unforgettable of "Leon", seduced by the ambition and grandeur of the project. During the press conference, alongside Laurent Storch, CEO of TF1, and Sophie Leveaux, artistic director of acquisitions, Takis Candilis, Chairman of Lagardère, Klaus Zimmerman, CEO of Atlantic Productions, Jean Reno, a native of Casablanca, said: "This series is a challenge, my wife is English, but I do not have Anglo-Saxon culture, it is an extra betting!" Jean Reno, talented actor, said he was happy to turn in a city that has so far been neglected by the international series, and finds it very exciting to tackle the foreign market, does not differentiate between small and big screen. He finds that the quality of the series is constantly improved and intends to slip into the character without preconceptions and indulge in what is in between the lines of the script. "I never preconceived ideas of a character. I work him in my mind, because I know that he will gradually penetrate and impregnate me. My relationship with a character is like a chemical reaction. Something happens when you use it. This is work that is digested and gives what appears on screen."
