Theodora’s Dream Doctors
Theodora Association with Melanie Laurent Surfs on the Festival de la Plaisance.
In the presence of actress Mélanie Laurent and Bernard Brochand, Deputy-Mayor of Cannes, the President of the Festival de la Plaisance, Annette Roux, gave the association Theodora a 10,000 euros check to help it continue its action "Clowns for our children in hospital." This association, sponsored by famous actress Melanie Laurent, find its origin in 1993 when André and Jan Pulley made the decision to bring a message of hope and happiness to hospitalized children, in memory of their mother Theodora. Born in Switzerland, as a foundation, the activity of this association has been steadily developed. Today it extends to over 120 hospitals in eight countries: Switzerland, France, Italy, England, Spain, Belarus, Turkey, Hong Kong. In France the association Theodora was born in October 13, 2000. Each week, 20 professional clowns are involved in more than a dozen pediatric services and an institute for children with autism. Each year the "Dream Doctors" visit individually 20 000 children experiencing long hospital stays, and serious diseases or are away from their families. This association is also for children with disabilities who live and grow at their own pace, who can find a synergy with the whimsical and quirky imagination of clowns in a changing universe. Artists, with a funny and inventive approach, introduce the unexpected into a difficult life as well as laughter and fun. This program is developed in close collaboration with teams of specialized agencies. All of which leads Melanie Laurent tell her motivation to sponsor the association: "When I visited in hospitals, there were many sadness before the ‘clownesque’ wave enters the room and leaves a trace, because ultimately, what is most important, is to leave traces".
