"Puppet Time" Exhibition by Compagnie Arketal
Since its inception, the company Arketal seeks to create and develop links between the Arts and the Marionette Theatre. It explored the world of painters or visual artists: Fernand Léger, Théo Tobiasse, Marius Rech, Rolf Ball, Martin Jarrie, Wozniak, Mâkhi Xenakis... The choice of shapes, materials and colors gives the Puppet a strong and original aesthetic. Greta Bruggeman, set designer and founder of the company, is constantly searching the puppet figure. For her, the building is an adventure, a journey through the material. The paper has a special place for her and by her settling on the Côte d’Azur, she will feel attracted by other materials: driftwood, sand, stones, bamboo. Each show, adapting texts of classical or contemporary authors and sometimes text commissioning, provides a different aesthetic universe and construction techniques.
This exhibition presents puppets from shows by the company, based in Cannes since 1990, and the research work that precedes each course given since 2002 at the Arketal Workshop.

Midem 2013 in Cannes and second midem festival
Midem (26-29 janvier 2013) is the international market where music industry-related deals are made. Every year, it invites labels, publishers, artists, producers and promoters from all over the world to share new trends and make deals. 6,950 participants, 350 journalists, 78 countries, 600 artists and over 19,000 tweets compose this huge event. Cutting-edge technologies and major brands will also be joining for panels, matchmaking sessions, networking, midem hackday, midemlab or the midem marketing competition. Of course, live music plays a huge role: over 100 international artist showcases will be mere footsteps away. While the musicians of tomorrow rock your Cannes nights at midem off, international will serenade you at the midem festival, located in our new venue, the Magic Mirrors, right outside the Palais des Festivals.
Organized by Reed MIDEM as part of midem, the midem the festival will take place over three nights, from Saturday 26 to Monday 28, January, on the esplanade of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. Following the success of its first edition and sponsored this year by Opel ADAM , the 2013 midem festival presents 10 concerts in 3 nights under a specially built for the event "Magic Mirrors" pavilion.
Among the artists who will perform at midem festival 2013, we will see the world-famous English group Madness; Israel singer, composer and musician Asaf Avidan; the increasingly appreciated French quartet electro/urban C2C; the very popular French pop/rock band Birdy Hunt, the collective based between London, Paris and Brighton Archive, 30-year-old actress and model Lou Doillon, the Belgian rock band Balthazar...

The Hippodrome of the Côte d'Azur is now one of the largest in France, while the Société des Courses of Côte d'Azur ranks as the third company of horse races in France.
