John Travolta makes a grand return to the Cannes Film Festival with his first feature film – a tribute to aviation and a childhood dream turned reality.

Propeller One-Way Night Coach : a return that promises to electrify the Croisette. For the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, John Travolta is making an appearance that is as unexpected as it is monumental. The iconic Vince Vega of Pulp Fiction returns to the spotlight, but this time, he is behind the camera to present his very first directorial effort.

A Highly Personal Directorial Debut

Titled Propeller One-Way Night Coach (based on his book Propeller One-Way Night Coach), this feature film is presented in the Cannes Première selection. Produced by Apple Original Films, it will have its world premiere at the Salle Debussy in the Palais des Festivals, with the creator in attendance. Available starting May 29, 2026, on Apple TV+, the film is a deeply intimate project: it is an adaptation of a book written and illustrated by John Travolta himself in 1997, inspired by his lifelong passion for aviation.

Aviation: A Passion Turned into Cinema

Beyond the silver screen, another passion has driven the actor since childhood: airplanes. Fascinated by the takeoffs at LaGuardia Airport in New York, he took to the controls as a teenager. At just 15, he began flying, earning his pilot’s license at 22. Today, he has accumulated over 9,000 flight hours and owns several aircraft. Certified to fly the Boeing 707, 737, 747, and the Bombardier Global Express, he also made history as the first private pilot to fly an Airbus A380. This passion has touched some of his previous films, such as Look Who’s Talking and Broken Arrow, but it finds its most complete expression here.

A Journey of Nostalgia and Wonder

Propeller One-Way Night Coach tells the story of Jeff (Clark Shotwell), a young boy fascinated by aviation, who travels across the United States with his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) on a flight that will change his life forever. Between unexpected stopovers, colorful passengers, and immersion into the Golden Age of commercial aviation, the film offers a sensory and emotional journey. On board, the cast includes Ella Bleu Travolta and Olga Hoffmann as flight attendants who bring the magic of the story to life. Conceived as an ode to childhood memories and the passing of the torch, the film blends poetry, nostalgia, and wonder.
