A village for pedestrians in the heart of Cannes
Steps away from the world-famous Palais des Festival hosting the Festival de Cannes, lined by prestigious Croisette on one side and trendy Rue d’Antibes on the other, a calm village dedicated to pedestrians is born. The district that includes the Notre Dame, Bivouac Napoleon, Des Belges and Buttura streets is historic: after disembarking on March 1, 1815 with 1,100 men in Golfe Juan, this is where Napoleon camped before taking off for his epic Hundred Days.
High seas dream start in Cannes
For this 34th edition of the Festival de la Plaisance, 470 new boats expose their hulls to "floc-floc" of Old Port wavelets, presenting a preview of the most beautiful novelties of major international shipyards in a sumptuous setting. The Espace Riviera is the Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes showcase and the Port Pierre Canto hosts on its pontoons used boats and yachts from 22 to 50 meters presented by European and American brokers...
Yoshitaka Amano’s fantasy
To mark the 20th anniversary of the twinning Cannes-Shizuoka, the Espace Miramar presents "Meltin 'Pop", drawings by Yoshitaka Amano. This artist is a Japanese illustrator who has developed a unique "fantasy" style inspired both by his country's traditional techniques and a very modern surrealism. His talent allowed him to explore different media such as pure illustration, comics, sculpture, video art, directing and animation

New hospital: a new dimension of care to patients
Cannes new hospital was officially inaugurated on Saturday, September 24, 2011 by Xavier Bertrand, Minister of Labour, Employment and Health, in the presence of Bernard Brochand, Deputy Mayor of Cannes, also Chairman of the Supervisory Board and its director Jean-François Lefèvre. With its new ultramodern building, its 845 beds and places and 55,000 m2, the Cannes hospital is the first healthcare facility in the western department of Alpes-Maritimes.

The Croisette has again vibrated to the rhythm of Régates Royales – Trophée Panerai who celebrate their 33 year of history. This is one of the oldest races since the first edition took place in 1929 in honor of King Christian X of Denmark. With a fleet of over sixty Dragon and an armada of nearly eighty classic yachts, some of which were blithely over a hundred years old !
Exciting day of cruise visit in Cannes
The Aida Bella with 2,500 passengers on board and the Grand Princess with 2,600 passengers have been dock in Cannes. 5, 000 cruisers mainly English and German, were able to discover Cannes and the Cote d'Azur on the biggest attendance day of the year. Recognizing the importance of this clientele and the need for developing customer loyalty, Cannes shopkeepers mobilized themselves into a Tourism & Shopping operation called "The Thrilling Visit".
Reading For All: Nice writers fight illiteracy
As part of his fight against illiteracy and promotion of literary culture, Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, established in 2008 with Raoul Mille, Councillor delegate to literature and fight against illiteracy, meetings between writers and scholars. The "Reading for All" season was launched at the Villa Massena in the presence of writers Didier Van Cauwelaert, Bruno de Cessole, Fariba Hachtroudi, Aurélie de Gubernatis and Bernard Deloupy.
Extreme Series in Nice: tight victory for Groupe Edmond de Rothschild
Incredible finish to Act 7, Nice... The all-French team of Groupe Edmond de Rothschild held their nerve in that final race but they made it hard for themselves and everyone else here watching. Rounding the final downwind mark Gitana were one place behind Artemis and still in contention for the title but they incurred a penalty. The drama was unfolding in front of our eyes... At the final upwind mark Artemis rounding in 4th and finally Gitana in 5th - they were back in with a shot, all they had to do was hang in there. And they did coming into the finish line with pace to finish a few seconds behind Terry Hutchinson's team. The final double points race delivered the highest level of suspense and drama. Groupe Edmond de Rothschild is the winner of Act 7, Nice, their second win of 2011 and now go into the lead for the 2011 Extreme Sailing Series overall title.
A very bright future lays ahead of Duty Free
TFWA President, Erik Juul-Mortensen provided a very positive assessment of the 2011 Tax Free edition: a turnover increase of 9%, over 40 new exhibitors and 6 to 7% renewal on an exhibition area of over 20,000 square meters. The most significant areas of growth were in delegations from Asia at +15% and Europe +11% with +13% from Africa, +4% from the Americas.
