Cannes Palais des Festivals et des Congrès supports Action Against Hunger
The Cannes Palais des Festivals et des Congrès joins in the association Action Against Hunger to carry out an operation of humanitarian support. The current disaster in the Horn of Africa puts in danger of death over 11 million people. Action against Hunger is mobilizing its teams in the field and calls for emergency donations to prevent the deaths of thousands more people. The Cannes Palais des Festivals et des Congrès intends to respond to this call by ACF and an urn is available to the public at the Tourist Office to raise money for children suffering from malnutrition. This operation, put in concrete form as a spontaneous collection of donations, is organized by the Cannes Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, represented by Martine Giuliani, CEO and Mariette Yvinec, Head of the Riviera Delegation of Action Against Hunger. It will take effect from August 10 and will last until September 30. By joining Action against Hunger, the Palais is part of a social responsibility steps and calls for the mobilization. The emergency humanitarian aid is essential in this region due to the escalation of conflict, recurrent drought and the impact of devastating epidemics. Les Etoiles de Mougins selected the finalists for the International Young Chef Competition.
The Selection Jury of finalists for the Young Chef Competition "The Hopes of Mougins" composed of the chefs Serge Gouloumès (Le Mas Candille), Sébastien Chambru (Le Moulin de Mougins), Philippe and Eric Finon Joannes (Le Nôtre Côte d'Azur) and Denis Fétisson (La Place de Mougins) met to deliberate. Francis OGE (cuisine service of the Presidency of the Republic), Filippo FIORENTINI (The Arnolfo in Colle di Val d'Elsa, Italy), Nelson Ferreira da Silva (Le Loom Seignosse in the Landes), Olivier Jean (Metropole Hotel, Monaco) are the first four of the five selected candidates that will participate in the finals to be held Sunday, September 18th at 1:30 pm at the Etoiles de Mougins, under the presidency of Eric Frechon, guest of honor. The fifth finalist will be selected on the West Coast of the United States by a panel of chefs and journalists. The competition assigned topic was "Foie gras served hot with free garnish around the butternut squash", theme that allowed the selected chefs to stand out among about fifty applications filed from around the world. A record this year since Stephanie Le Quellec, finalist in 2010 won the trophy in 2011 and Top Chef Fanny Rey, finalist in 2008 was second in the same competition. The winner will receive a grant of 15,000 euros. Vintage 2011 candidates appears excellent, so, appointment for the final, Sunday, September 18 at 1:30 pm at the Etoiles de Mougins in Mougins Village.
