Yachting Festival, Europe’s largest à flots boat show, is hoping to revive the yachting industry and confirms that it will be held in Cannes from 8 to 13 September 2020.

Yachting Festival: thanks to the implementation of new tools deployed at an international level by Reed Exhibitions Group, the organising team has continued to prepare the 43rd edition of the Festival with serenity, involvement and enthusiasm, maintaining regular exchanges with shipyards and equipment manufacturers. Europe’s largest afloat boat show will take place in Cannes two ports: the Vieux Port and Port Canto, raising hopes for a revival of a nautical industry greatly affected by the health crisis of the #Covid-19.

Compliance with the recommended sanitary measures

Even if the current situation represents a real challenge for the setting up of the salon, all the launched projects- both afloat and on land – continue to evolve in close collaboration with the exhibitors, the port authorities and the partners in Cannes. The action of the Yachting Festival organisers is guided by the respect of the sanitary measures recommended to limit the spread of the #coronavirus. Reed Expositions France is also actively engaged in the work carried out by UNIMEV (professional federation of event professionals) to draw up the protective measures on the shows that will be submitted to the French government.

Redesigned areas

Amongst the novelties of this 2020 edition, the Quai Saint Pierre in the Old Port will bring together fast day-boats. The Quai Max Laubeuf, both afloat and ashore, will host a marina dedicated to motor multihulls. Ashore, the area dedicated to outboard and inboard (hull-less) engines, launched last year, is being refurbished to offer greater visibility and exposure comfort to small and medium-sized unit motorists.
Port Canto, which houses the Sailing Area, the largest fleet of sailing yachts in the world, has been designed with, to date, around 110 registered units, including around sixty exceeding 15m.
Maritime access between the two ports will be reinforced and will be equipped with more efficient signage. A new restoration area is currently being planned.

Respect for the protection of exhibitors and visitors

The Yachting Festival organisers are currently engaged in a reflection process about a specific organisation of the show’s queues, the installation of markings on the ground, a counting and/or flow regulation system (in the aisles, quays, stands and on board ships), the wearing of masks, the provision of hydroalcoholic gel and reinforced daily disinfection of the places of passage. The objective is to open the doors of the Yachting Festival 2020 in a way that allows the event to take place in the best possible conditions and in a way that respects the protection of exhibitors and visitors.

“This hope is a goal for us!”

Sylvie Ernoult, Director of the Yachting Festival, and her team are looking forward to meeting the exhibitors, partners and service providers and welcoming them in September on the pontoons of Cannes: “Many of the clients I spoke to are hoping that the show can be the end of the tunnel. And even if there are still many steps to go through before the next Yachting Festival opens, this hope is an objective for us.

Adapting the new sanitary standards to the show

The exhibition teams make every effort to accompany customers and provide them with the necessary flexibility while ensuring that work schedules are respected and thus allow everything to be operational in due time. We have set up a team in charge of adapting the new health standards to the show and we will implement the necessary means. We wish courage and energy to all our exhibitors, partners and service providers in these “unusual” times!”

Azimut Yachts showcased its new models at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 11-16, 2018, introducing new elements of style of its megayachts.

Azimut Yachts showcased at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2018 – Europe’s leading at sea boat show – a fleet of 18 Azimut yachts, including 3 new models that have been making their world debut at the Yachting Festival: Azimut S6Grande 25 Metri and Grande 32 Metri. Accompanying the three new models will be 15 more yachts from all the brand’s five Collections (Atlantis, Magellano, S, Flybridge and Grande), ranging from the smallest Azimut Atlantis 34, to the shipyard’s flagship, the Azimut Grande 35 Metri, which, since its launch, has already sold 10 units and been awarded a remarkable 6 international prizes.

Azimut S6 boasts sporty DNA

The 41st edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival saw the arrival of Azimut S6, the new entry in the S Collection. The S6 is a pure coupé with sporty DNA that looks set to leave its mark in the history of yacht world development, offering unprecedented levels of efficiency obtained with the help of the three IPS propulsion units and Carbon Tech. The exteriors are designed by Stefano Righini, who on this model has further accentuated the glazed surfaces in the hull, a distinctive feature of the S generation, giving the yacht an immediately recognisable profile. The defining characteristics of the interiors by Francesco Guida, for whom this is his second project with the shipyard, are a modern and discrete sense of elegance and a welcoming atmosphere bathed in warm colourways.

Azimut Grande 25 Metri, original personality

The Grande Collection, the most recently introduced collection of Azimut superyachts, has been joined by two new models. The first, the Azimut Grande 25 Metri, has a Carbon Tech superstructure, roll-bar, hard top and transom and represents the perfect blend of charm and technology. For the interiors, designer Achille Salvagni offers a non-conventional take on the living area by abandoning the typical distinction between sofa and dining area, and creating in their place one big space on the Main Deck, which can be transformed into a dining area when needed by raising a recessed table. This solution highlights the decidedly informal and original personality of this model. Two propulsion solutions are available, one with a pair of 1,650 hp Man engines and the other with two 1,800 hp Man units, for a top speed of 29 knots and a cruising speed of 26 knots.

Azimut Grande 32 Metri ©Azimut-Benetti Group

Azimut Grande 32 Metri, innovative vision

The desire to express an innovative vision that breaks with the past is the driver behind the second novelty in the Collection, the Azimut Grande 32 Metri. This superyacht is the epitome of avant-garde in every aspect, with multiple unprecedented solutions. The defining features of the model are the big, airy, interior and exterior spaces. Outdoors, designer Stefano Righini provides guests not only with a big beach club in the stern, but also a Fly Deck offering a remarkable 70 sq m of space split into three distinct areas: a dining area, a central living space, and finally a relaxation area in the bow with a hydromassage tub, which can become a second lounge area at the owner’s request. The airiness of the outside spaces is complemented by the luminosity of the interiors designed by Achille Salvagni. The full-beam owner’s suite, for example, is flooded with light through full-height glazed surfaces on both sides. Propulsion is provided by two 2,200 mHP MTU engines, driving the yacht to a top speed of 26.5 knots.

Anticipate unexpressed needs

Marco Valle, Azimut Yachts CEO, says that he is very confident about the novelties: “Season after season, we enrich our offering with models that often anticipate unexpressed needs and unformed ideas. Owners increasingly express their desire to enjoy life on board in spaces that are less formal but never ordinary. We strive to create designs that express both elegance and comfort, to which we add innovation and advanced technology that are always a step ahead of the competition. This is the DNA that keeps our customers coming back to us”.

Luxury yachting goes green

Beyond the notions of comfort and performance, the respect for the planet, the preservation of the seas and oceans and the desire to leave a reduced ecological footprint are gaining importance in the luxury yachting sector where shipbuilders compete for technological innovation. The world of yachting relies more and more on green energies or reductions in energy consumption thanks to new hulls with more hydrodynamic shapes, the gradual transition of foils from the world of ocean racing to that of yachting and the development of more fuel-efficient engines. This green, eco-responsible trend will be very visible at the Yachting Festival 2018.

Cannes Yachting Festival: All in Good Spirits

The Cannes Yachting Festival, the largest afloat boat show in Europe, confirms its leading position in terms of innovation and yachts launches.

The Cannes Yachting Festival, created in 1977 by the French Nautical Industries Federation (FIN), opens the season every year in September. The afloat Boat Show is a major event for the global marine industry, with the presence this year of nearly 50% of international visitors and 60% exhibitors from 40 different countries, out of the 530 exhibited.

A flourishing 2016 edition

The 39th edition of the Yachting Festival has broken a record in terms of number of boats on the water, innovations, exhibitors and frequentation. The Cannes Yachting Festival is a nautical event eagerly awaited by all yachting professionals as it is a good barometer of market developments and future trends in the world of boating. In recent years, it has become the yachting world major event thanks to the many quality products and services it offers and the volume of business it generates.

Improving world of yachting

With an attendance skimming the 50,000 visitors, the 2016 festival confirms the new upturn in the world of yachting. No more repeated crises, no more gloom. In a global context still in shock of the attacks, the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2016 reaffirmed – through the number of exhibitors and visitors constantly evolving – its status of first international show for multihulls.
The Cannes Yachting Festival arrived at its apogee during the closing weekend by recording more than half of its boat sales. The to ports of Cannes, located at each end of the Croisette, welcomed on the waves more than 600 boats from 2,40m to 46,30m long. A fleet of motor boats including 134 yachts over 20 meters long, sailing boats including monohulls (38) and multihulls. Some 200 new features have also appeared, always bigger, more luxurious, faster, ith range of more and more sophisticated navigation instruments.

Ten kilometers of boats

The Cannes Yachting Festival is unique in Europe by its size, 300 000m2 of exhibition, and the number of boats afloat on two marinas, representing 10 km of boats positioned for some along 3 kms of floating dock installed for the occasion, welcoming 4 traversantes and floating passages that open to let the boats go at sea during the trials.
The Yachting Festival also broke a world record by hosting 45 catamarans from 42 to 77 feet in a large exhibition space in the heart of the Old Port. The event also put sailboats in the spotlight, 120 this year, nearly 20% of the total fleet presented. It also celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Brokerage & Charter sector at Port Canto.

Among the novelties, the Supreme 68 Power

Among the novelties presented at the Cannes Festival Yachting, the Sunreef shipyard has presented the Supreme 68 Power. This yacht, presented in engine version, is the brand’s latest revolutionary 68-feet concept, offering an imposing living space of 300 sqm. This ultramodern catamaran with innovative features opens a new chapter in the history of the luxury yacht industry. The radically new concept of its superstructure allows to open the living space onto both the cockpit and on the sides to get a huge area where the outer and inner areas merge into one space for relaxation. The boat is equipped with a large rear garage with a rear platform and storage space for the annex, jet skis and water toys. The living areas of this catamaran were decorated and fully customized to meet the needs of its owner.

Sunreef Supreme 68 Power

A relaxing terrace

This year, the Cannes Yachting Festival innovated with La Terrasse, a space dedicated to luxury brands. The exceptional location of the terrace, its 180° view over larger yachts shocased at the Old Port, the bay of Cannes, the Croisette and the Lérins islands shoed the strong the will of Yachting Festival to constantly renew itself for stay in a trail of excellence. Built on stilts, this new space offered a unique experience to visitors who were able to indulge their taste for exceptional products and admire the unique know-how and the art of living that characterize these luxury brands.

La Terrasse

Charm and elegance

As in 2015, the Festival Yachting organized the second edition of the Concours d’Elegance in the old port of Cannes. This unique parade of Day Boats of yesterday and today, pays homage to the rich history of yachting on the French Riviera. Vessels less than 12 meters have paraded with excellence and grace before the eyes of spectators gathered on the dock and the beach festival.

New partners

The 39th edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival saw the arrival of new partnerships like the car manufacturer Porsche, but also of Studio Harcourt Paris, the Champagne house Louis Roederer, Façonnable and Interni. Thanks to these internationally recognized brands, the Festival offered its visitors an experience of unparalleled luxury. These new partners have joined the Festival’s faithful brands: Lise Charmel, Wajer Yachts, Azur Helicopter and Fenwick-Tohatsu.

VIP cards and exclusive services

This year the Riviera Card, a VIP program, was a great success with visitors illing to enjoy this customized experience. The card gave access to exclusive services, such as the visit of the Yachting Festival aboard a boat, a direct transfer by helicopter from the heliport of the Old Port, access to Concierge services, VIP Club and a courtesy vehicle provided by Porsche.

The Cannes Yachting Festival 2016, with exhibitors enthusiastic of the quality of visitors and the business concluded, was an excellent vintage.

Annette Roux, Franck Cammas & Dean Barker

An exceptional ecosystem of yachting

The ceremony ended with a speech on the stand of the Nautical Industries Federation (Fédération des Industrties Nautiques). During his speech, David Lisnard said that the marine leisure sector was part of Cannes cultural DNA, a city with two huge ports open on the Mediterranean and the world. The Yachting Festival is an important socio-economic issue for the Cannes territory, but it is as well a major asset of French expertise worldwide. David Lisnard then drew attention to the local businesses: “We have French entrepreneurs who create an eco-system of yachting absolutely exceptional such as the Cannoise company France Hélices, became in no time the French number 1 producer of propellers.”

David Lisnard, Annette Roux, Franck Cammas & Dean Barker

The latest novelties and innovations

The Mayor of Cannes was then praised the great success of the Cannes Yachting Festival, the largest afloat boat show in Europe, which has been bringing together for 39 years the major professionals of yachting and sailing industry to showcase to the public their latest products and innovations. He also mentioned his attachment to the French Nautical Industries Federation which strives every day to strengthen and helps move forward the marine leisure sector and its actors through the NauticLab, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nice Côte d’Azur and Riviera Port, tirelessly working.

Alain Pichavant & David Lisnard

Finally, David Lisnard revealed a bit of the program of the fortieth edition that will take place from September 12 to 17, 2017. He wishes to extend the Yachting festival to Port Canto – already integrated in the Yachting Cannes Festival – with many animations on the Croisette, which connects the two ports, and its surroundings, so that the public makes the most of the festival of the sea and boats.

Cannes Yachting Festival: Plaisance and Elegance

At the Cannes Yachting Festival, the second edition of the Concours d’Elegance delighted the crowd of spectators who came to admire fine Rivas or other sea jewels and their crews.

Cannes Yachting Festival offers since last year a nautical parade full of elegance that also pays tribute to the rich history of yachting in the heart of the French Riviera. If the concours d’élégance are usually reserved for nice-looking automobiles or horse-drawn carriages, the Concours d’Elegance is a rare event in the field of yachting and water sports.
Since its first edition in 2015, this competition is exclusively reserved to older boats (motor boats) and more recent motor boats (day-boats), less than 12 meters long. The crew – four people maximum – is enhanced by the grace and charm of a woman at least.

A nautical style ballet

At the Concours d’Elegance, held in the Old Port of Cannes before the new luxury exhibition area La Terrasse, 30 beautiful boats offered to the public, massed on the dock next to the VIP Lounge of Yachting Cannes Festival, an outstanding ballet of high water refinement. With the elegance worthy of the famous parade of vintage cars of the Villa d’Este, the Riva vintage or modern other sea jewels, delighted the audience with an exquisite and harmonious parade in front of the beach festival with the Lérins Islands as a background.

Violetta – 2004

Sea jewels to draw out

The boats participating in the Concours d’Elegance are divided into three categories. The units built before 1980, those built between 1980 and 2000, and finally the new models designed after 2000. These seas beauties are judged by a jury of six people installed on a ship anchored off the festival beach. It has to appreciate the scarcity the model, its history, the quality of its renovation, design and state of preservation. When passing the jury boat, each crew, a glass of champagne in hand, must greet the public as a sign of good manners and friendliness.

Prix de l’élégance féminine

A professional jury of connoisseur

The jury, chaired by Mrs Annette Roux, President of Yachting Festival, was composed of Marc Ouayoun, Managing Director of Porsche France, Olivier Piquet, CEO of Lise Charmel, Dominique Gabirault, pharmacist passionate about yachting, Nicolas Kappenberger, Director of Switzerland Market for Audemars Piguet and Roberto Franzoni, journalist.
After the parade, participants, partners, VIPs and journalists were invited to the awards ceremony held on the terrace of the Cannes Yachting Festival VIP Club. The partners of the Yachting Festival spoiled the winner by presenting them with many splendid awards.

VanDutch at Cannes Yachting Festival 2016

©VandDutch

At Cannes Yachting Festival 2016, VanDutch luxury yachts made their show at sea, on the beach and on the famous Croisette.

Founded in 2008, VanDutch Marine became known by the quality of finishes of its yachts and for their unique and innovative design. The Dutch brand manufactures lightweight, strong, fast and economical day-boats. To achieve this level of excellence in the construction of the luxury yacht, engineers used a digest of the best naval technologies while emphasizing luxury and simplicity. The brand showcased two yachts at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016.

©VandDutch

Combining luxury and technology

The first of the range was the VanDutch 40 designed by architect Frank Mudler. The hull and deck are made of composite sandwich, using the technique of vacuum injection, giving strength and lightness to the boat. Its unique style and incredible power make it one of the jewels of the luxury on the water.
In 2011, the range is broadened with the arrival of VanDutch 30. A replica of its 40-feet older brother with identical design and luxury amenities. VanDutch confirms its leading position on the global market for luxury yacht. Since then, the range has been extended with the VanDutch 55.

Quick acceleration

All strategic points of the boats have been designed to make them more efficient. The hulls are reinforced with Kevlar for rugged durability, the design in V of the propulsion shaft line allows a perfectly horizontal aft to increase speed and reduce fuel consumption. Today, VanDutch luxury yachts are distinguished by their engine power, for their quick acceleration and ability to turn short.
With the different engines on offer, a speed approaching 40 knots can be achieved. They are also easy to maneuver thanks to their front and rear thrusters and the autopilot combined with a GPS Chart Plotter allows a boat control in peace.

The VanDutch 55, a jewel of excellence

The VanDutch 55 showcased at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016 was developed by the firm Frank Mulder Design hich has had the brilliant idea to reproduce an XL version of the famous 40 VanDutch by adopting the same silhouette. This jewel of the sea stands out first by its power. Equipped with 1900 hp engines, it traces a deep wake in the world of nautical excellence. Its impressive size – 16, 50 meters long and 4, 50 meters wide – its immense synthetic teak deck, its narrow and vertical bow, minimalist décor, perfectly juggle with the aesthetic codes of the VanDutch brand: luxury and simplicity.

Sunbathing at will

The boat won the first glance with its cockpit open on the back multiplying the living areas, its wide sun deck at the back, the galley consisting of a central table flanked by two benches facing each other and a third along the sun deck.
In continuation of the side seats, the cockpit and the passenger place welcome adjustable seats with electric actuator. The long wrapping smoked windshield protects the cockpit from the assaults of the sea, while an electric bimini protects from the hot sun.
The construction of the bridge includes, among others, some retractable cleats, very large chests, an engine compartment which opens hydraulically and a telescopic navigation light. The perfectly built stainless steel bath scale and compartment for storing fenders allow to enjoy the incredibly clean cockpit design.

A free, open-plan space

Inside, the volume is free and open-plan. The kitchen in white lacquer, fully equipped, is located to the left of the boat facing the living room housing a white leather sofa decorated with modular square poufs. The open and spacious sleeping area occupies the triangle of the boat. It is furnished with a double bed and wardrobe space. Its white walls offer incredible clarity and brightness. On the rear, a second cabin includes two single beds (or a double, depending on demand) is independent. This sleeping cabin is fitted at starboard and a bathroom occupies the other side of the descent.

Arcadia 100 by Arcadia Yachts

Arcadia 100 ©Arcadia Yachts

At Cannes Yachting Festival 2015, the Italian shipyard Arcadia Yachts presented the Arcadia 100, the newest model for 2015 currently under construction with many eco-friendly innovations.

With the new Arcadia 100 currently under construction – 30% building completed – the Italian shipyard Arcadia Yachts widens its 2015 range . Boasting a length overall of 31,06 meters but 29,29 meters waterline and 7,75 meters beam, unusual for yachts of similar size, Arcadia 100, featuring a third deck, offers a remarkable internal volume, positively influencing the living space on board.
We take this opportunity to show you some stunning images of a yacht under construction and her impressive hull as well as rendering of exteriors and interiors.

Great design innovations

Arcadia 100 features a new concept flying-bridge, convertible into a sheltered third-deck, completely closed and protected by the side windows that can be raised up electrically to meet the hard-top, like you can do in a car. Therefore, the whole upper-deck area becomes much more flexible and usable under any weather condition, with air-conditioned in very hot weather or left open and aired if needed, as per any traditional flying-bridge. On the third deck are fitted the wheelhouse, a lounge with sofas
and coffee tables, wet-bar and, externally in the aft, a sun-deck.

©Arcadia Yachts

NPL type hull for performance

Arcadia 100 has a semi-displacement hull, NPL type, named after the National Physical Laboratory of England, where tests were conducted to determine its shape for the best ratio of length to beam in terms of hydrodynamic efficiency. Prior to adopting the NPL as Arcadia’s hull, studies were implemented by Arcadia’s technical department, resulting in excellent sea keeping qualities and noise reduction, providing an exceptional comfort. This advanced hull, together with the light Arcadia superstructure, enables very satisfactory performance with low-power engines, bringing fuel consumption reduction and related running costs, compared to other yachts of similar dimensions.

Reduced fuel consumption

Actually, with two engines by 1,000 hp each, the new Arcadia 100 reaches a maximum speed of about 18 knots, and offers a perfect cruising speed for long distance day trips. At 16 knots, the fuel consumption is around 230 lt/h and at 14 knots, it goes down to some 150 lt/h. At economical cruising speed, suitable for night navigation and long range cruises (8/10 knots), the
consumption drops down to less than 50 lt/h. The Arcadia 100 cruising range is also favoured by low generator usage thanks to the electrical energy supplied by the solar panels that cover almost all of the superstructure.

©Arcadia Yachts

Solar panels to provide additional energy

Latest-generation solar panels are integrated between external and internal surface of double-glazing panels fitted on top of the largest part of the superstructure. This advanced and ecological system supplies enough power to run many equipment and electrical systems, like refrigerators, water circulation, toilettes, lights, A/V, electronics, while recharging batteries. Thus, the power needed on board while at anchor – excluding the air conditioning – is supplied “free of charge” all day long by the solar panels system and convertor, without using the generators. The system offers a significant saving of diesel oil, less pollution and more comfort on board thanks to the substantial reduction of noise, vibration, without gas emission while enjoying your time close to the swim
platform.
Each double-glazing panel contains a special gas named Krypton, which guarantees a high thermo-isolating coefficient, up to 18° of thermal cooling between interior and exterior temperatures, the equivalent of a 20 cm brick wall.

Salon ©Arcadia Yachts

Many internal design options

Arcadia yard proposes many internal layout variations, either four or five cabins, to meet the requirements of the majority of owners and ensure the proper comfort and privacy expected on yachts of this size. The yard is available to develop custom interiors and different finishing solutions in order to satisfy the buyer’s expectations on every Arcadia model. The Arcadia 100 standard version has the full beam owner’s suite amidships on the lower deck, with the bed offset to starboard facing forward. Behind the bed are the washroom with bathtub, sanitaries and twin sinks, and the dressing room with adjacent vanity area. To port we find an area to relax in, with armchairs and sidetables.
All the features are integrated in a spacious environment, illuminated by large openings in the hull.
On the main deck, the large living area directly connected to the cockpit, features both salon and dining zones, creating a single, bright and airy space, characterized by the transparency of the vertical side crystal-sand. The whole living area on the main deck can be transformed into a “patio”on the sea thanks to sides sliding doors and gunwale balconies, creating an amazing “al fresco” zone with an unique sea view.

Technical specifications

Friday’s personal submarine ©Friday

At Cannes Yachting Festival 2015, the Portuguese company Friday showcased nautical and water related leisure devices: a personal submarine and floating houses.

Since Tintin‘s dives with Professor Calculus’ shark-shaped submarine in search of the treasure hidden in the wreck of the Unicorn and the underwater adventures of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who didn’t dream of becoming a captain Nemo and discover the beauty of the seabed? The company Friday had this dream come true with a personal submarine that can dive to 300m.
The company has also developed a unique concept of floating houses.

A unique personal submarine

Friday’s compact yet robust and comfortable personal submarine is the lightest and smallest submarine of its class with just 2,5 metres in length, 2,36 metres in width and 1,84 metres in height, it has a very comfortable freeboard, by far the largest of its class, getting in and out is easy and safe.
Being captain Nemo has never been easier: the resident system automates the most tedious navigation tasks and saves energy. All critical systems have automated backups in place and a number of safety features come as standard and DNV-GL certification is, of course, mandatory. Available for two or three persons, the submarine can dive safely to a depth of 300 metres (about 1,000 feet), with an autonomy of up to 8 hours.

Friday’s floating home

Wether you’re looking for an original romantic gateway for two or a mobile house on a lake for your family, Friday’s floating home offers endless possibilities, from staying tied to the bank to moving in the middle of a lake with two small outboard motors.
With a fixed width of 6 metres and lengths ranging from 10 to 18 metres, you may feel the freedom of nature on the doorstep of a cosy studio or a fully furnished three-bedroom house. Whether you use the floating home as a base camp for numerous outdoor activities such as sailing, paddling, water skiing or fishing, or simply to relax, you’re guaranteed a great living experience in full autonomy. Cannes Yachting Festival 37th Edition

The Cannes Yachting Festival 2014 showcased 550 yachts in the bay of Cannes from Sept. 9 to 14, celebrating world premieres for some 100 units.

The Cannes Yachting Festival diversity is outstanding: more than 50,000 visitors had the opportunity to discover a large range of vessels from 5 to 55 m: new models of power yachts, catamarans, sailboats, inflatables and tenders. Sea trials are a major asset for the shipyards to seduce customers as 80% of the boats presented afloat were able to leave their pontoons and navigate in the bay.

An international Festival

Almost 50% of the visitors came from abroad, while two-thirds of the 480 exhibitors came from 34 foreign countries. Hence, in its 37th edition, the former Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes became the Cannes Yachting Festival. A name that confirms the international profile of the event.

The Port Pierre Canto hosted nearly twenty-five different brokers from a dozen nationalities, major players on the yachting  and luxury second-hand yachts market. Almost 50 second-hand boats, from 20 to 50 meters, were presented by brokers and charter companies, offered for sale or lease.

The Festival is fashion!

The hostesses of the Cannes Yachting Festival were dressed in Lise Charmel, a brand of swimwear and lingerie. The Galeries Lafayette organized a much awaited fashion show in front of the Riviera hall. And during the “nocturne”, the Dominator shipyard treated customers and friends of the brand to a prestigious Haute Couture fashion show by celebrated fashion designer Julien MacDonald.

So Cannes! China Night

During the Cannes Yachting Festival, China RendezVous has organized the 7th edition of the So Cannes! China Night party to welcome all Chinese guests. In partnership with the Group Lucien Barriere, Aeroports de Paris (ADP) and Repetto, the celebration gave a special magic Chinese flavor to the Festival.
The event took place at the Majestic Hotel beach and pontoon, where over 150 selected VIP from China, Asia and the rest of the world enjoyed a great entertainment and networking evening. The guests were treated to a classic ballet show offered by Repetto.
Two Chinese companies were exhibiting at the Festival. Royachts, a trademark of Dalian Zhongying Co Ltd, whose luxury yachts 45′ and 55′ are sold in China in main yachting cities like Shangai, Dalian, Sanya, Shenzhen, Honk Kong. Present for the first time in Europe, Royachts is to participate in all worldwide fairs with boats on display.
HH Catamarans was presenting the HH66, the first in a series of luxury high performance cats: the Super Cats. HH66 is said faster than any luxury cat ever made at the size and stronger and more stable in heavy seas than anything in its class.

Bavaria and Nautitech Develop Catamarans

German shipyard Bavaria Yachtbau announced at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2014 its association with French Nautitech Catamarans to sell catamaran yachts over 35 feet.

Bavaria Yachtbau GmbH, based in Giebelstadt, in the heart of Germany, is building motor and sailing yachts, products of state-of-the-art-manufacturing. The shipyard, one of the largest in the world in the 29 to 56 feet segment, is now entering into the market for catamarans over 35 feet, in conjunction with the manufacturer Nautitech Catamarans, based in Rochefort.

A Cannes encounter

Since late summer, Bavaria Yachtbau GmbH has been working closely with the French manufacturer of catamarans Nautitech Catamaran.  The first contact between Daniel Kohl, CPO of Bavaria and Nautitech Catamaran founder Bruno Voisard, was established one year ago at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

Owners and charter market

Daniel Kohl said: “Since 2012, it has been on Bavaria’s agenda to enter into in the market of catamarans over 35 feet. After investigating various strategies and negotiating with several potential partners, we were impressed with the high build quality of the Nautitech catamarans. The exterior and interior concepts of the shipyard were meeting both the needs of private owners but also that of the charter market.” he added. “And in March of this year, we were able to sail the first prototypes of the new Open 40.”

Nautitech Catamaran

Founded in 2004 by Bruno Voisard, Nautitech Catamarans is based in Rochefort on the French Atlantic coast. The past ten years of production have seen an impressive growth. In addition to the series production of six models from 40 to 54 feet in length, the shipyard features the Voyager-line with catamarans over 50 feet dedicated to the tourism industry.
Bruno Voisard said: “We have achieved rapid growth before coming up against our growth boundaries. As a company, in conjunction with Bavaria, we can now invest in the development of new models and continue to join forces.”
The latest model, the Open 40, designed by Marc Lombard, will be added to Bavaria’s product portfolio.

Next step into future

Bavaria’s global great dealer network will drive developments of the Nautitech Catamaran brand further along with Daniel Kohl. A third model range will see motor boat catamarans from 40 feet, not with high top speed, but comfort and great living space available on a catamaran at its heart. The target market is owners and charter customers.
Daniel Kohl concluded: “Catamarans from Bavaria will continue with Nautitech Catamaran as its brand name. We are now one company and will implement a joint sales strategy. ”

Dominator D26M Ilumen Is Fashion

The all-new Dominator D26M Ilumen Motor Yacht was officially presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2014 on September 12, after two years of top-secret design and engineering work.

Besides displaying three yachts, the Dominator 640, 720 and 780, the Austrian shipyard unveiled the new Dominator D26M Ilumen project during a spectacular party bringing together customers and friends of the brand and media. After the presentation speeches, guests were treated to a gorgeous fashion show by Welsh fashion designer Julien Macdonald.

Time to see the light

Instead of being mass-produced, Dominator yachts are lovingly created by the shipyard’s skilled craftsmen with tailored solutions to ensure that everything perfectly meets their customers’ requirements. Dominator unites internationally renowned Italian design and Austrian thoroughness to create a limited number of bespoke yachts from 20m to 40m. Hence, each of Dominator yacht is a masterpiece, and the Ilumen yacht creation sounds like a major event in the shipyard’s history. Is it ime to see the light ?

Revolutionnary  features

Designer Alberto Mancini, who earned recognition at first in sports car design, explained the features of the new Ilumen, emphasizing one of the unique features of the design, a retractable ceiling (called a ‘moon roof’) to the owner’s suite that invites occupants to sleep under the stars.
Company owner Dr. Pernsteiner also detailed the Ilumen’s revolutionary new engineering features including a newly developed, four-mode hybrid propulsion system.
Last year, the Dominator 640 dominated the World Yachts Trophies competition by winning in both Best Layout and Best Interior Design categories. The Ilumen’s presentation augured well of it future success!

Marine haute couture

The scope for individualisation afforded to Dominator customers can be likened to marine haute couture. Therefore, what better way to celebrate Ilumen’s birth with an exclusive and sparkling fashion show by designer Julien Macdonald to close the evening in grand style?
Throughout the night, Dominator proved to set new standards in building tailored yachts but also in creating unique experiences. Guests enjoyed the glittering Dominator Ilumen signature drink and exclusive caviar bits while watching the brilliant visual and musical creations of the renowned DJ and VJ whirls around the white Rolls-Royce on display on the stand. This gave justice to the Dominator’s philosophy: clients only deserve the best!

About Julien Macdonald

Julien Macdonald is working in London. In 2001, he was named British Fashion Desiger of the Year. The same year, Julien Macdonald was appointed as chief designer at Givenchy, succeeding Alexander McQueen. He appears as a judge on the television programme Britain & Ireland Next Top Model.

Heliotrope Green Luxury Sea Expeditions

At Cannes Yachting Festival 2014, Albert Nazarov’s Thailand-based design studio Albatross Marine Designs and Bakri Cono shipyard presented Heliotrope, the first luxury solar-assisted catamaran yacht in the world.

A few months ago, a client walked into the premises of Bakri Cono boat builders and required: “I want a yacht with which I can go anywhere, visit very remote islands and enjoy all my time on board”. The Bakri Cono shipyard took up the gauntlet and created the 65ft green-on-environment catamaran Heliotrope.

Luxury Expedition Catamaran

The owner wanted to cruise around many of the 38,000 South East Asian islands. As the yacht would be more often around remote islands than near marina service stations, strong needs of independence, reliability and safety were to be fulfilled. Heliotrope allows long times at sea – cruising, exploring, living, and enjoying a ‘Luxury Expedition Catamaran’.

Practical and stylish

The Heliotrope, a great challenge to both designer Albert Nazarov and builder Bernard Lamprecht, is really designed for the ultimate experience at sea in both comfort and safety while sporting a sexy and sleek look.
The spacious front deck is a full walk-around with a large sundeck which doubles as a surface for additional solar cells and huge stowage for the mattresses and other items underneath. A full featured bar corner, luxury seating, dining tables and large open area allow partying or simply lazing around.

Sun kisses give electricity

The Heliotrope’s name comes from the Greek Helios – sun – and Tropos – turn. The yacht is equipped with cutting-edge solar technology including over 28 sqm of flexible solar cells, directly mounted on the surfaces, turning the sun into electricity. The hardtop of the fly bridge as well as surface under the forward sun beds are covered with solar cells. The panels are delivering more than three kilowatt per hour of electric charge on a good sunny day.
For rainy days, the Heliotrope boasts another unique feature, (an idea from the owner): the rooftop to also serve as a catchment for fresh water. Thus, rainwater from the rooftop of the fly bridge drains directly into the fresh 1,100 liters each water tanks.

Made for long trips

Due to the expeditionary nature of the Heliotrope, the designer decided on large engine rooms with two diesel machines and straight shaft drives. There are in total four interconnected fuel tanks of 1,500 liters each. In the engine rooms are a reverse osmosis water maker, generators, central air conditioner, deep freeze chillers, water heaters and compressor for dive tanks.
The twin Volvo D9 light commercial-rated diesel marine engines provide a top speed of 24 knots and a very economical cruising speed of 12 knots  can be achieved with only one engine operating.
The boat is designed to comply with category A – Ocean of the European Recreational Craft Directive.

With her generous space, layout and easy handling (no professional crew needed), the Heliotrope has everything going for it to become your home on the water.
