Huge success for the tenth anniversary of Etoiles de Mougins where a record number of gourmets tasted the program concocted by chefs from all over the world.
For three days, the village Mougins of perched between sea and mountains, with sweeping views over the Bay of Cannes, has metamorphosed through Etoiles de Mougins in a vast open-air theater of taste to host the greatest world chefs who came to share with the public the love of a profession and celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Festival of Gastronomy and Art of Living.
A reference on the world gastronomic scene
A touch of imagination, a pinch of persistence, a lot of courage and passion have made of Etoiles de Mougins the International Gastronomy Festival that imposes itself today as a reference on the world gastronomic scene.
Since its creation in 2006, it welcomed more than 296 chefs representing 412 Michelin stars – including 29 three-star chefs, from 28 invited countries, 300 journalists and 25,000 visitors per edition.
Workshops (salty and sweet), demonstrations, lectures, signings or the show cooking that are succeeding during its three days exalt the happiness of la bonne chère, enjoyed by the public from 7 to 77! Hundreds of chefs, creators of taste and emotion, provide the show every year, helped by partners and volunteers who give without counting, and of course, the public.
A mouth-watering program
From Friday to Sunday, the French Riviera Gastronomy Festival blew its ten candles in company of 130 chefs, including the chefs who were godfathers of the previous editions like Gérald Passédat, from Marseille, Frédéric Anton, the Pré-Catelan in Paris or Marcel Ravin, from Monaco.
Throughout the weekend, demonstrations and meetings succeeded in Mougins in the presence of Denise Vergé, famous chef Roger Vergé’s widow and godmother of this anniversary edition with more than 120 demonstrations, workshops and competitions that have delighted the audience at the heart of the “Azuréen” village.
Many demonstations-tastings
On Friday, the festivities began with demonstrations workshops for children from the city. This day was devoted entirely to them.
Then the Saturday started with many demonstations-tastings like that of Stéphanie Le Quellec, starred chef of Le Prince de Galles in Paris and her Roasted Crayfish with small violin Courgettes. The visitors could discover many workshops such as that of jam, presented by Stephan Perrotte, Meilleur Ouvrier de France and 2015 World Champion.
Two photos exhibitions
A little further, starred chef Geoffrey Poesson, from restaurant La Badiane in Saint Tropez, officiated in the company of pastry chef Laurent Favre-Mot, Christophe Chaivola and Laure Platiau. Then, Arnaud Tabarec, from Le Sea Sens in Cannes, presented his dish. On their stroll, the public could also discover two photographs exhibitions: one dedicated to the master of the Cuisine du Soleil, Roger Vergé, and the other by Aline Gerard and Alain Dupont, who exhibited gorgeous photos of chefs’ dishes.
Pleasure halt mixed with bursts of laughter
The third and final day of Etoiles de Mougins started with a bang in with the final of the international young chefs contest, Les Espoirs de Mougins. Everywhere, demonstrations and tastings were offered throughout the day. For the true gourmands, the “all chocolate” workshop courted them and their taste buds said they would do their good choice for a stopover of pleasure mingled with bursts of laughter and above all, moments of sharing.
Les Toques Brûlées’ great game
A little further, at the workshops area, the “cuisine of the sun and elsewhere” was elaborated and tasted in a crazy and gastronomic atmosphere with the Association Les Toques Brûlées.
In a wild dance with music, they offered the public dementia live demonstrations of recipes, which they then offered for tasting in small glasses. The recipes were developed by more than thirty chefs but also by David Faure and his wife Christine Cornu-Faure, like the delicious Tomato Mozzarella revisited.
Many delightful attractions
Among the main attractions that were offered to the public, we could see the final of the very fun and colorful Rallie des Chefs aboard 2CV, ice carving, fruit and vegetables sculpture, a contest of cocktails, the selfies contest “Tag ton Chef”, the workshop Tableware (or how to set a table, or cut meat), the Live Bistrot and its concerts, a novelty of Etoiles de Mougins 2015. An alley was lined with Food Trucks and gourmand producers who brought to a stage where, from the afternoon to late evening, free concerts have thrilled the audience.
Closing festivities
On Sunday, last day of the International Festival of Gastronomy, the final of the Best Young Sommelier Competition was won by Camille Mercury (Restaurant L’Oasis in Mandelieu la Napoule).
The closing ceremony ended with a lavish party at the Park de Mougins with all the guest chefs, partners, journalists and volunteers who participated in the event. Mayor Richard Galy closed the 10th edition of Etoiles de Mougins with a fine speech of thanks before a thousand guests, followed, as appropriate, by the tasting a gorgeous Ten Years birthday cake.
More than 30,000 visitors attended the thousand and one cooking class given by 142 chefs from sixteen different countries to have the taste buds travel under the radiant sun of end of September.
