MarediModa – IntimodiModa in Cannes: flash on 2018 trends with the new collections of fabrics and accessories for beachwear and underwear.
MarediModa – IntimodiModa, the trade fair for beachwear and underwear, took place from November 8 to 10, 2016 in Cannes. This year, the show celebrating its 15th anniversary, saw the key players in the industry showcase as premières the latest trends and collections of fabrics and accessories that will enhance women’s silhouettes during the 2018 spring/summer season.
Trends and premières
Considered the international reference of European fabrics for the manufacture of beachwear, swimwear and lingerie, MarediModa – IntimodiModa is a B to B trade show presenting as premières the trends and the best collections of fabrics, accessories and finishing items such as buckles, jewelery, bags or sneakers, which will complement the entire summer dress of the elegant.
The show brought together more than 3,000 professionals in the Riviera hall of the Palais des Festivals around over 100 exhibitors from all over Europe.
Lycra Fiber presents Athleisure
This year, Lycra Fiber – official sponsor of the salon – presented the collection Athleisure, a collection of beachwear made with Lycra fiber used for sportswear, to which it brings elasticity, ease and comfort. Lycra has partnered with some 100 companies who have participated in the creation of tissue samples and clothing prototypes.
These clothes made with the Lycra fabrics were showcased in the Lycra Lounge, sponsored by the brand. Throughout the duration of MarediModa, the Investa Group, owner of the Lycra brand, presented on its stand the promotional materials provided to its customers.
A selection of the best stylists
The exclusive trends for the 2018 season were developed by the Trend Committee of MarediModa – IntimodiModa, a team of experts composed of WGSN, the global trendsetting specialist, and David Shah, the emblematic figure of fashion, colors and social changes and trends, but also publisher of the magazine Textile View.
This team also included a selection of professors and students from the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, Italy. This group has developed swatches, trendboards and printed fabrics that define four trends for swimwear and two others for lingerie and athleisure.
Conferences, workshops, trend forums, hosted by the MarediModa Trend Board, made it possible to group by thematic the tendencies in beachwear of summer 2018.
The Link rewards tomorrow’s talent
The Link, the fashion show of swimwear and lingerie trends 2018, embellished with matching accessories, was the highly anticipated event of MarediModa – IntimodiModa, culminating in harmony, grace and beauty.
The Link is a contest dedicated to the most talented students in fashion and design, selected from a hundred European schools. It rewards new emerging talents in the Beachwear and Underwear categories. Hundreds of models were studied to select four finalists in each of the two categories and nominate two winners.
At the awards ceremony, in partnership with Fashion Network, four models of each runner-up were presented during the parade.
The Bikini celebrates 70th birthday
As MarediModa – IntimodiModa was celebrating its 15th birthday, this year, the Bikonic exhibition was celebrating the 70th birthday of the Bikini, a bathing suit for women created by a Frenchman, Louis Réard. Consisting of a bra and a triangular panty, it was first worn in Paris on 5 July 1946 at the Molitor pool by Micheline Bernardini, a naked dancer at the Casino de Paris.
A show created for excellence
MarediModa – IntimodiModa was born in 2003 with the aim of representing and promoting the interests of member companies, protecting the high quality and creativity of the European textile production. It is reserved for selected professionals who seek the prestige in the fashion of beachwear and underwear. Entrance is by invitation, sent only to buyers of the world’s best fashion houses.
