The 31st edition of MIPCOM, from October 5 to 8, 2015, in Cannes, rolled out the red carpet for Turkey, guest of honor and the many stars from the audiovisual world.
MIPCOM is the year’s most anticipated global market for audiovisual content and for the actors in the distribution on all platforms. Each fall, over 13,600 participants, 4,600 companies including 2,000 exhibiting companies and 4,500 buyers from over 112 countries converged to MIPCOM. The leading companies of television and film and stars who liven up our screens come to Cannes to present a new world of content.
Turkey, featured country
MIPCOM 2015 was inaugurated in the presence of the Turkish delegation representing their country in the spotlight, who came in force to present its abundant world of audiovisual content. The Turkish delegation also glittered on the Red Carpet at Hotel Carlton for a very “stars and glamour” photocall. MIPCOM participants have discovered the numerous television programs and corporate collaborative deals with companies like Global Agency, TRT, Kanal D, ATV, Inter Media Ltd, and Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.

The advent of digital
For its 31st edition, MIPCOM inaugurated a conference program that enabled audiovisual players to explore the strategies of changes in the ecosystem of worldwide distribution of content across all platforms. The central theme of the conference program was “A new creative excellence”, a flash stroke on the new creativity in television around new content distribution strategies within a multi-platform video ecosystem in turmoil. With the evolution and growth of digital media, once can predict the end of traditional television, that’s why OTT – “Over-The-Top” systems like YouTube, Dailymotion and others – today destabilize a number of players, still part of the “old world” of broadcasting.
4G, future of distribution
The star was also the 4G with the participation of industry leaders like Eutelsat, SES, Sony, NHK, Sky Italia, Sky Deutschland, BBC, Orange Labs, etc. who came to confirm, at a conference, that all was ready for the massification of the mobile broadband technology that will have in the future a huge impact on the distribution of video content.
Conferences entitled “Into The Stream” also focused on creating a new excellence. The changes brought about by the advent of digital has led to a forum for international expansion bringing together major media groups. Social media are also taking an ever more important place with Twitter, or Victorious who was lauching its international expansion at MIPCOM.
Shows for everyone
Creativity is obviously not only related to technology. A new wave is involving all kinds of content, reality shows and series equally with presentations in world preview. The thriller was there with The Last Panthers, science fiction and supernatural with X Files, costumes and history with War and Peace or the trend of the day with renowned cook Nigella Lawson for a culinary “tour de piste”. A spotlight was devoted to children with MIPJunior that presented as première two superb series, Zorro: The Chronicles, the hero of our childhood and Seven & Me, a contemporary adaptation of Snow White that combines both reality and fiction, shot in 3D.
Series and people
MIPCOM is becoming a platform for the sale and purchase of television programs but also for the promotion of series and TV movies. Producers are bringing in personalities playing in the series with international success. The fans of the small screen had the opportunity to see the stars of TV series during photocalls organized on the Croisette.
