Mayor of Cannes David Lisnard announced the birth of IPEM, a new prestigious international congress addressing the private equity market to start in February 2016 at the Palais des Festivals.
From February 17 to 19, 2016, Cannes will become the world capital of Private Equity with the new congress IPEM – International Private Equity Market – which will host very high level international decision makers for a summit of the world of finance and funding companies. This major event is signed for five years at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
4,000 business professionals
On April 29, 2014, David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes, Claire-Anne Reix, President of SEMEC, and Martine Giuliani, CEO of Palais des Festivals et des Congrès were surrounding René Pérès, CEO of Europevents and Alexander Lavoisier, CEO of Europexpo, who presented their new congress, IPEM – International Private Equity Market.
Organized by Europexpo, creator and organizer of BtoB fairs, the first IPEM will already bring together 4,000 professionals from the field of business and investment funds from 25 countries (Europe, North America, Asia and Middle East) to meet some 200 exhibitors.
Project initiators meeting investors
Private equity is a financial activity consists for an investor in entering the capital of companies that need capital transactions.
For fifteen years, the sector of company financing by institutional investment funds has been taking a large importance at international level. Actors of sovereign wealth funds, institutional investment funds and private equity investment funds are looking to meet companies in need of being funded to ensure their development or internationalization. To date, this value chain did not benefit from a large international event. Europevents, a communication and event group, wished, through its subsidiary Europexpo, to create an event enabling meetings and exchanges between project initiators and investment funds.
Cannes, the perfect match for a key event
René Pérès said: “Private equity deserves a large international event in which all elements of the value chain of the involved industry can participate. Cannes allows this gathering and has unique strengths to this format of event: reception facilities, staff professionalism, hotel capacity and all necessary subcontractors”.
David Lisnard welcomed the creation of this professional event whose positioning is “in perfect harmony with the public image of Cannes and the Palais des Festivals.” The Mayor of Cannes is delighted with this signature: “Given the size of the event, its positioning and date, this is great news for Cannes economy and the sector of business tourism. I thank the organizers for their trust and hope that IPEM will meet their goals.”
