Nice Côte d’Azur Airport has proudly unveiled its beautiful renovated terminal 1 on June 10, 2016 in the presence of many personalities. The second airport in France is positioning itself on a fully European dimension. The renovated platform invites passengers and shopaholics to live an amazing journey into the world of luxury and the French Riviera traditions, and distinguishes itself with Thierry Marx‘s fine cuisine.
Airports, showcases for luxury
With the explosion of world tourism and the qualitative upgrading of Duty Free areas, the most prestigious brands are today encouraged to adjust their distribution strategy. The competition between major airports is fueled by the arrival of prestigious brands that wish to establish themselves as gateways for long distance flights with stopovers.
Cloning the Avenue Montaigne in major airports around the world is the dream of luxury brands, rich tourists and airport managers.
The strategy of luxury brands present in the new Terminal 1 of the Nice Côte d’Azur airport aims at attracting and enticing international travelers, who, before embarking for faraway destinations, have the opportunity to quietly discover, in one unique place and without the weight of baggage, some brands usually scattered around the cities.

On 3,500 m2, 40 new boutiques with the most prestigious brands in the world now offer one of the best showcase of world luxury.

The Nice Airport Shopping promenade
After passing under a monumental 11-meter shark, dubbed Air Shark, suspended since March 2016 in the patio of the Terminal 1, designed by Amélie and Sophie Legrand Paumelle, forming the artists duo LAPS, we discover the new Duty Free zone of the Nice Côte d’Azur airport. The new shopping area provides an opportunity for travelers to immerse themselves in the world of beauty and luxury.
Throughout their journey, they will discover the prestigious brand Hermès, famous for its silk Carré and expertise, established on an area of 140m2. To discover also, its prestigious neighbor Versace, flagship of Italian fashion and favorite brand of Elizabeth Hurley, Madonna Elton John. Further, the French leather goods company Longchamp is along the Baccarat, Armani, Ferragamo, Max Mara, Fragonard boutiques…
Thierry Marx, restauration in the stars
On the culinary side, the two-star Chef Thierry Marx from the Mandarin Oriental in Paris opened his restaurant La Plage. Inspired by the significant places in the French Riviera, the concept is based on a chic snacking. On the menu: salads, Arancini, sardines en cartouche… Based on local products, the Carte reminds the beach, as well evoked by the holiday-looking décor with umbrellas, deck-chairs, wooden grating.
International brands complement the gourmet offering like Starbucks, Prêt à Manger, Joe & the Juice from Copenhague, Le Temple du Champagne, the Whisky Club, the Riviera Bar, Fauchon and its cooking terminal delivering nice small madeleines to enjoy hot.
There is also the inevitable of the Riviera traditional brands: Chez Pipo de Nice and its numerous socca specialty with vegetable, tomato and artichoke, eggplant and pepper… and La Tarte Tropézienne from Saint Tropez. The new concept, So Nice, created exclusively for Nice Airport, offers stylish souvenirs with Southern flavors: fashion, trendy accessories, scents of Provence.
