Located between Nice and Monaco, the Casino de Beaulieu Sur Mer and its enchanting gardens with stunning views over the Mediterranean, hosted the launch of the 2015 vintage of the Petit Fute Cote d’Azur for a culinary evening thanks to the talent of many chefs and pastry chefs from the Maritime Alps Union of Artisans confectioners, chocolatiers, glaciers and the Interprofessional Committee of Provence Wines.

Escapade on the Riviera Dei Fiori

In the presence of Olivier Rainau and Alain Cadi, Presidents of the Casino du Golfe group and Antoine Herboux, General Manager, Petit Fute Cote d’Azur’s publishing manager Isabelle Drezen unveiled the novelties of the 2015-2016 edition. Among those, a new section entitled Riviera Fleurs that will inspire the readers of this little essential guide for exploring the beautiful area of the French Riviera, to make a romantic escapade on the Italian land of the Riviera dei Fiori.

Route des Vins

The “Southern Alps” topic was replaced by a special “Wine Route” section: a wine tourism reference in France with the major French Riviera vineyards and a “best of” of the wineries with ideas of walks, discoveries and tastings along the vineyards. Isabelle Drezen then presented a new recruit in the Petit Fute team, Gerard Bernar, well known by the gastronomes for its Email Gourmand.

Wine and Gastronomy

During the evening, the guests were able to quench their thirst by tasting many wines such as the Rosé de Provence from Domaine Terre de Mistral (Rousset), Château de l’Aumerade (Pierrefeu du Var), Château de Berne (Lorgues), Château Mentone (Saint Antonin du Var), or those from the Vignoble Rosse (Saint Jeannet) or the Domaine de la Croix (Saint Tropez peninsula).

On the Restauration side, the PetitFour breads, regulars of the event, accompanied the delicious preparations of seafood – lobsters and crustacean seared on the plaque – and the fresh and organic products from the houses Idéelice and AvantGout (fruit and vegetables).
For carnivores, an open rotisserie was installed at the entrance to the Casino gardens and everyone could feast on delicious tender beef grilled to perfection, lamb or poultry from the Boucherie Parisienne Formia.
In addition, throughout the evening, “minute” dishes by the chef Antoine Marret from the Casino de Beaulieu restaurant – “Le Quatre” – were served to the guests.

Journey to sweet Wonderland

For the gourmets with a sweet tooth, the journey to the Wonderland of “bien manger” took them to Bruno Laffargue (MicMac Macaroons in Cagnes sur mer), to delight in the delicious macaroons in various flavors (strawberry, vanilla, coffee, chocolate etc.)
Then to Philippe Britto‘s, based in Cannes, and his delicious homemade quatre-quart and finally, to a last stop at the very retro triporteur of the very friendly pastry chef Christian Cotard from Antibes to gorge on his mini-millefeuille grilled like a panini and served with almond cream and compote of cherries and apricots.

To close this festive event at the casino of Beaulieu sur Mer, Christian Cotard mounted his triporteur for a superb final round of starry trail.
