More environmental friendly, more functional, more aesthetic: after two years of work, Theoule sur Mer celebrated the completion of the renovation of the port in the city center.
The town of Theoule sur Mer inaugurated on October 18, 2013, the renovation of one of its ports in the presence of Mayor Daniel Mansanti surrounded by Éric Ciotti, President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, Serge Dassault, Senator, Bernard Brochand, Mayor of Cannes and many personalities.
The town of Theoule, eager to develop the quality of its reception facilities and its image of tourist city, wanted to review the organization and planning of municipal port in the center city. Besides the work of restructuring and rehabilitation of critical port infrastructure, a genuine area of tourism has been create which is seen as an extension of the city itself and of its surrounding areas.
The work consisted in achieving a new jetty for large units. The implementation of this jetty and the restructuring of the wing-wall provide better protection and comfort of the water body with respect to the residual agitation. To make best use of the reception capacities of the port, taking into account the changes in the yachting market, the sea bed has been dredged. Moreover, the pontoons were replaced moved, and elongated to allow optimization of the water body.
For user comfort, the sanitary and existing showers were renovated and a first aid station was established. Finally, the entire network has been revamped to improve the comfort and service of port facilities and of new buildings.
The operation cost amounted to 2, 65 million euros, with a grant of 530,000 euros from the General Council. In October 2011, the town will begin the redevelopment of the marina.
The marina will be added 7 new mooring places at reduced prices against part of a contribution to the cost of the work, or 1,000 per year for 17 years. As a resulte: new parking spaces, toilets, larger port moorings and water depth increased to accommodate larger ships.
