The success of the first Antibes Celebrates Yachting, a festival dedicated to luxury yachting, demonstrates the reactivity of industry professionals.
To dream or do business, 1,500 visitors took part in the new Antibes Celebrates Yachting festival that took place in the Bastion St Jaume at the Port Vauban of Antibes on April 24 and 25, 2015. The captains and crews and professional visitors came from Antibes and the entire French Riviera, from Monaco to Montpellier, but also from Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the United States.
A new concept to open up the season
Antibes Celebrates Yachting program launched the 2015 Yachting season in the Mediterranean with a rich program: meetings between professionals and captains on a “speed dating” concept in a B2B spirit, a forum of employment and services for the crew, useful and interactive seminars for captains and professionals, as well as many activities.
Yachting industry is reactive
The yachting history and the history of the port of Antibes have been closely linked for nearly 50 years. The town of Antibes and its professionals have paid tribute to their industry and welcomed the international yachting. Patrick Gilliot, President of ASAP, organizer of the ACY, said “Antibes Celebrates Yachting is a spontaneous event (in response to the cancellation of the Antibes Yacht Show). Born of a solidarity initiative illustrating a reactive industry, it generates a positive dynamic for the economy of the sector and the Port of Antibes. “
Reviving professional contacts
Antibes Celebrates Yachting is conceived to create or renew professional contacts. Two large tents gathered on one side the companies whose activities were dedicated to crew members (recruitment, training, insurance, communication…) and on the other, the players of the nautical industry (brokers, manufacturers, marinas, security…). Bringing them together in one human-scale place facilitated the contacts.
On 1,000 square meters of exhibition, 54 companies specialized in yachting exhibited their know- how in recruitment, management, shipping agencies, contractors. They came from the French Riviera but also from abroad including England, USA , Cyprus, Monaco and Antibes.
Antibes Celebrates Yachting also offered 12 seminars over the two days. The diversity of topics has enabled many visitors to learn and be advised by experts moderators in their areas of expertise such as regulations of the activity, or professional news such as piracy, cyber security on board or the preservation of the seabed.
The support of a major inter brokers associations (MYBA) and the IYCA has allowed Antibes Celebrates Yachting to host 15 yachts from 20 to 47 meters.
The brokers present were pleasantly surprised with the quality of visits they received on board either from buyers or potential renters.
All requirements were met
The animations were a huge success. They were either instructive as the launch of a life raft, the practice of cardiac massage or more fun like keeping oneself fit aboard or leraning how to make a flower composition. The most popular were those that offered to taste oysters, the pata negra, petits fours, fresh fruit, ice cream and sorbet, macaroons, champagnes, cognacs and wines of exception or coconut water.
Networking and conviviality
The English breakfast with specialties cooked on site have delighted the taste buds from all nationalities. The petanque competition brought together nearly forty players, amateurs and novices, half of whom were yachts captains happy to relax in a friendly and fun atmosphere. The BBQ, reserved for participants and crew members, has served nearly 500 plates to guests who were able to continue to grow their business contacts in the festive atmosphere of the evening.
