Glory at Raid Inter Hotels Cote d’Azur 2014

The fourth edition of the Raid Inter Hotels Cote d’Azur, organized by Team Nature, was once again a resounding success with 260 participants who defended their hotel’s colors.

On September 28, 2014, 260 participants, divided into 65 teams, dashed to the island of Sainte Marguerite off Cannes, to try to win the famous RHICA trophy they would keep a whole year in their hotel after hard-won.

Starting with a flourish

On the boat carrying them onto the island, participants’ comments were rife. Some, armed with their last year experience, were explaining to newcomers how to be the fastest possible.
Still a little sleepy because of the early hour of this sporting event, taking place during their day off, they listened to the explanations on how to grab a few seconds on some tests on the program, such as the search for the star in the sea, or some tricks applied on the obstacle course. Everyone was sure of their theory, but ultimately, on the ground was it a different story.

Bound for glory

After landing on the island, the teams, wearing shorts, colored jerseys and a white bib with the name of their hotel on, hastened to get their materials from the crew inside the Fort Royal. The start was given at 10 am, and, equipped with maps of the island, rulers, pencil and compass, the 250 participants scattered across the island after establishing a road map.

Stages to go through

Step one: go in search of the stars scattered here and there along the west coast of the island. Fortunately, the runners had thought of everything: swimsuit for girls, shorts for boys. As soon as the point of rendezvous was found, each one hastily undressed for a dip in the Great Blue, equipped with a mask to look after the famous star.
Then, thanks to the famous password they had to whisper in the ear of an organizer, they were given a paper star for the team to continue its journey to the second test, the obstacle course in the middle of the island. Running fast to try to get the first without getting lost, staying focused on the initially planned route, thoroughly consulting the guidance panels, was the watchword in each team.
They arrived out of breath at the meeting point where the jeu de boules, shooting darts and stilts course were awaiting them. The latter was really very funny, because walking on this kind of scale was not easy for the designated competitors, even if supported by the rest of the team. Especially that every fall forced them to go through the course again from the start. That provoked memorable fits of giggles among competitors.
Finally, after overcoming the difficult and perilous obstacles, the unbridled teammates race took up again and brought them to the third and last round, nautical this time, before trying to cross into the famous winner finish line. Aboard a kayak and a paddle, the competitors designated by the team went to retrieve tools in the sea. These tools were then used to fill with water, in the shortest time, a tank on the beach.

Finish Line in focus

The three tests completed and credited with the points of the “bonus 5 senses” puzzles from the “brain-teaser” stages, the competitors departed at a gallop, trying to blow up the times to finish off the 4th edition of Raid Inter Hotels Cote d’Azur on a high.

Ultimately, the great winner of the day of nature sports, based on conviviality, was the Royal Riviera in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, followed by the Radisson Blu in Nice and the Hotel Martinez in Cannes.

At the end of the day and to recover from so much effort, students from the Atman school provided the competitors  with osteopathic sessions.

The charity also won

This year’s Raid Inter Hotels Cote d’Azur took a charitable dimension by supporting the PIWI, a charity association raising funds for the Prader Willi syndrome research. The Bouchons de l’Amour (Corks of Love) collected during the event will also allow to help people in distress.
