After two years of work on modernising, the Gare de Cannes boasts attractive new shops, inaugurated on September 25, 2015 by Vinci Immobilier and the city of Cannes.
After two years of work and 40 million euros invested by the City for its expansion and modernization, the Gare de Cannes (Cannes train station), located in the heart of the town, is transfigured. The multimodal transportation hub and now offers Cannes people and travelers a range of services tailored to the attractiveness of the city of Cannes.
Evocation of the Festival de Cannes
Some 5 million regional and international travelers can now wait for their train in an airy building with its 3, 000 square meters totally revamped hall, draped in red velvet – an evocation of the Festival de Cannes – connect their tablet or Smartphone to WiFi or stretch their legs on the tree-lined promenade on the first floor.
Train users will be able to stroll, eat or do their shopping in the 2,600 m2 of mail made available by the Capital of Cinema.
The new station forecourt has also been refurbished into a multimodal exchange pole with a bus station serving the city and all the surrounding towns, a taxi station, 1, 135 parking spots and 85 drop-off spots.
The next station shopping
After the speech of Guillaume Lucas, Vinci Immobilier‘s Deputy Director in charge of the shopping center at the Gare de Cannes, the ribbon-cutting ceremony took place in the presence of Mayor David Lisnard and elected representatives of the city.
Inside the station, already installed at the end of the hall, next to the monumental staircase that connects the outdoor top and bottom forecourt, one finds a Relay press, a fast food kiosk, Trib’s, a Italian restaurant Rustichelli e Mangione, a car rental brand. The upcoming event will be the arrival of the first Starbucks that will open on 129 sqm with 26 sqm terrace and Amorino, that will soon refresh us with gelato.
Now, a total of 6 stores located on the western edge of the new station of Cannes settled on the ground floor: 2 restaurants (Mango and Nissa Café), a bakery (Multari), two shops (MaxiBazar, Bagages & Co), a new generation bar for horse bettors (PMU City), a fitness centre (Fitlane) on the first floor and a crib (Babylou), located on the second floor.
A super luxury hotel
At this very official opening of the new shops, officials were the first to visit the model room of the imposing 4-star Okko hotel located on the east side of the station. Although still under construction and scheduled to open in March 2016, we already know what will the 125 rooms of this luxury establishment look like. With an area of 18 m2, each of them has a high-end equipment including a natural fiber bed and an Italian shower. A Club area will bring together a number of services (business corner, fitness area). This luxury hotel located in Cannes Golden Triangle will work in all inclusive (breakfast, drinks and dinner) and mainly envisions a business clientele, including the Festival de Cannes and congress fairs Reed MIDEM, Lions, etc. participants, who regularly flow into the Capital of Cinema.
All-Organic Nissa Café
The Nissa Café and its director Alain Caillou offer its customers a on site or take away restauration service. The meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, ice creams are completely organic and respects the seasons. The sportman may feast on a Fitlane menu and the customer feast on a delicious fish like the Brook Trout from Greolières in the spacious dining room or on the 90 m2 south-facing terrace of the establishment, washed down with Champagne or organic wine like the Château Sainte Marguerite or a Bandol de la Bastide Blanche. Early risers will be offered a breakfast formula of fresh organic juices, pressed with a cold extractor to keep vitamins and accompanied by delicious homemade pastries.
A new fitness center
The new fitness center Fitlane, located on the 1st floor of Gare de Cannes, offers a 300 sqm fitness area with Zomba, Baryum, Yoga courses, bikes, weight training equipment and cardio training, two free access saunas, a relaxation area and shop specializing in products and fitness equipment. The gym is open 7 days 7, from 7am to 10pm.
About Vinci Immobilier shopping centers
In the near future, Vinci Immobilier shopping centers will develop new operations in contact places of transportations flows: train stations, airports, urban transport exchange poles…
It is currently building a large 29,000 m2 shopping center around the future Nice Stadium multi-sports and shows infrastructure that the group Groupe Vinci is achieving and will operate (delivery scheduled for late 2016).
Next step: the Nice train station, where a large-scale renovation project must be accompanied by the construction of two large real estate projects, one of which will including a hotel and a shopping center.
