Harmonies of gastronomy and jazz
The Pays de Fayence unfolding its soft hills as far as the eye can see under the firmament, Mediterranean flavors in generous plates, scents of lavender and roses, notes of music in counterpoint to the song of the cicadas … It’s Jazz in the Garden at the restaurant Le Castellaras in Fayence where Hermance and Quentin Joplet invite you to taste the charms of the subtle and refined Art of Living of Provence during a live musical evening, where gastronomy marries with the elegant harmonies of Jazz, Bossa, Swing in duo or trio…
A paradisiac setting
Between sea and mountains, in a land where Provencal customs have shaped landscapes and men, Fayence, the city with thirteen fountains, is a particularly popular holiday resort. Surrounded by the splendid lanscapes of olive trees and vineyards of the villages of Callian, Mons, Montauroux, Seillans and Tourrettes, perched on a hill with a panoramic view of the Fayence valley, the Restaurant & Chambres d’Hôtes Le Castellaras is a family establishment since 1989, in a large Provencal stone bastide combining authenticity and modernity in an idyllic rural setting.
Jazz in the Garden, première…
In this beautiful bucolic setting, on the terrace under the plane trees, with a panoramic view of the Pays de Fayence, the starred cuisine of chef Quentin Joplet is tasted every Wednesday evening of the summer to the sound of a live group, duet or trio in a repertoire of jazz, bossa, blues, swing…
The first evening Jazz in the Garden on Wednesday, June 12, 2018 hosted the group Human Songs, composed of Pascal Celma, bass, Fréderic Petitprez, drums, Tom Carriere, piano, around the singer-songwriter Cyprien Zéni.
On sensitive texts, expressing a poetic and philosophical creativity, the group takes us into a moving, authentic and human universe, privileging emotion in a Jazz repertoire with Soul influences, sometimes with Gospel accents. The repertoire of Human Songs performed at Le Castellaras will soon become a first CD produced by Asterios, a production company that is promoting artists like Orelsan and Thomas Fersen.
Cuisine du marché with Mediterranean soul
Its large terrace, protected from mosquitoes by a Bio Belt, is sheltered from the ardor of our fervent southern sun by large trees, including a huge plane tree, and refreshed by a large pool of Asian inspiration where large colored koi carp are wandering. Chef Quentin Joplet, who succeeded Alain Carro, is cooking seasonal products from local terroirs, a “cuisine du marché” with the greatest respect for the environment, with excellent fresh local produce from the market. or local fishing, beautifully elaborated in the Mediterranean soul. Le Castellaras celebrates this year the thirtieth year of a great success in this charming Var country near the French Riviera.
