The Capital of Cinema rolled out the red carpet for gourmets and gourmands who came to enjoy from the gastronomic treasures of the first Gastronoma culinary salon. From October 30 to November 2, 2015, the first edition of the salon attracted the lovers of gastronomy, Art of living and fine and excellence products in the magnificent setting of the Palm Beach at the tip of La Croisette, with its superb view on the Lérins Islands.
Starred prestigious sponsors
The first edition of Gastronoma was sponsored by the chefs Sébastien Broda (Park 45 at the Grand Hotel), David Faure (L’Aphrodite in Nice, President of Toques Brûlées), Christian Morisset (Le Figuier Saint-Esprit in Antibes), Bruno Oger (La Villa Archange at Le Cannet), Jacques Rolancy (Le Rolancy’s in Nice) and master sommelier Jean-Pierre Rous, President of the Association Slow Food Côte d’Azur Monaco.
Red carpet and fine products
On more than 5,000 m2, 139 booths were showcasing their exceptional products in the hushed areas of the Palm Beach in Cannes, turned the time of a long weekend into a true palace of Taste and Gastronomy with free access. The many visitors from across the region walked the red carpet rolled out just for them by the organizers of Gastronoma and discover, program and glass in hand, (2 euros the glass, including 1 euro donated to the Restos du Cœur), the areas dedicated to tasting and sale of terroir gourmet products.
The artisans of taste
This first edition brought together producers, manufacturers and distributors who introduced the best products from the French terrois: wines, Champagne, foie gras, cheese, meats, alcohol), but also some exotic, ethnic, certified organic or fair trade and sustainability products.
Look, feel, taste, analyze, learn how to talk about wine, detect its secrets, it is in this universe dedicated to gastronomy that visitors were diving for a few hours thanks to the discovery workshops, conferences organized by chefs in taste workshops like the one on “the art of eating well”.
Cooking classes and demonstrations
The audience attended cooking class demonstrations by chefs from the region followed by a tasting of the delicacies prepared live. Original themes were also addressed, such as the experimental kitchen by the chef of L’Aphrodite in Nice, David Faure, and his culinary preparations based on insects.
Lovers of good wines were introduced to the oenology and food lovers attended the presentation of equipment, materials and innovative accessories to become a true chef.
Small cozy corners installed on the terrace allowed the visitors to take some well-deserved rest with the backdrop of the deep blue sea and the Lerins Islands. After a short respite, they could start walking the many aisles of Gastronoma to find foie gras, caviar, truffle-based products or wines that will accompany their future Christmas or New Year’s Eve dinners.
Luxury, comfort and services
A three star service proposed by the organization of the salon Gastronoma: home delivery of products purchased, or place their children to day care, supervised by animation professionals and animated by the clown-ventriloquist Ciboulette. The oldest could practice balloon sculpting or coloring while their parents calmly strolled among the 139 booths.
Gala evening on Halloween theme
A big draw with many prizes to be won (wine, regional products, accessories…) was organized in partnership with the exhibitors, not to mention the gala evening organized on the theme of Halloween, a including a prestigious “pumpkin” dinner (a part of the profits were donated to the Restos du Cœur).
The students from the Tunon School in Nice also contributed to the great success of this first gastronomic salon with efficiency and expertise in bars and catering services.
A new appointment of Gastronoma is on the horizon and a new “cuvée” could be reborn in April 2016!
